Lets say bench player then. Neither eill be sn sll-star, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd all NBA team. Nothing here to get excited over.
Long term harkless is no bench player. In fact he's already a starter on a playoff team. To me he seems like a decent glue guy who plays defense and is a reliable slasher to the basket and can hit the open shot which is exactly what we need.
To put in perspective Andre Roberson is a starter on a playoff team. The key word in your response is "decent". Our roster is full of decent guys. So are many of the D league rosters.
Roberson is a valuable player to okc as a lockdown defender. Poor example.
Look, we don't need anybody spectacular to start at the 3. We already have our two focal guys in Timmy and KP so what we need to do is surround them with complimentary players. Harkless fits that. I fail to see your point. Secondly please identify who in our starting lineup and rotation classify as D league guys...
Roberson is a huge liabilty. First ive seen hack a shaq on a guard. I would be upset if Roberson was the key piece we were getting back for Melo. To clarify i never said our starting lineup have D league guys...what i said is our roster and d league rosters are full of "decent" players your satisfied trading Melo for.
Such a liability that they resigned him at 3 years 30 million. Try again. With regards to Melo what worth do you think he has? Melo is just above a decent player himself at this stage in his career.
No one is running to play for okc. They are forced to keep what they have. Can you honestly say you would be happy with Roberson as the NYKs starting 2 guard?? I definetly would not. Did you even watch any OKC playoff games?
Melo is an all star and was the best player on the Knicks. Just above decent is inaccurate. Harkless upside is way less than Melo production last season. Not even close.
You said Roberson was a liability. A liability is someone who hurts puts the team at a disadvantage. So why resign Roberson if he puts the team at a disadvantage? It's like if the Noah deal finished today and we resigned him to another bad deal....
Melo being an all star doesn't mean **** and you know that. In fact, Melo wasn't even picked for the reserves in the first place. Melos production means diddly squat when he's jacking up a ton of shots to get there so yes, harklesses two way upside and better fit trumps Melos production.
Did you watch the OKC-Houston series? Im guesing not because yiu would know eaht I mean by liabilty.
I would also ask if you watched many knicks games last season? Melos shot attempts were not him just jacking shots. Did you see how many times Melo passes early in the possesion and ball came right back to Melo? Did you see how many bad shots were taken the moments we really needed a bucket to stay in the game? Do you remember Lee passing on the 3 because he thought the opposing coach was a player? Did you see KP struggle to score in the post against the opposing teams PG? People need to stop blaming the knicks short commings on Melo.Im sorry but Harkless is not the answer. Far from it. If somehow Melo is traded for Harkless I will support him like i support all my knick players (until you prove a liabilty and want you gone) but this trade scenario is not something ppl shouldnt be getting excited about.
No the fact that you can't comprehend why OKC resigned Roberson even though he had a bad playoff outing tells me you don't know what a liability means.
Look I'm not saying Harkless is the answer and that all our problems are going to be resolved with Melo gone, but what I am telling you is that with the direction this team is moving melo has no place on it. We are moving in a direction based on youth basketball where we should be enhancing our young core of Frank, Timmy, KP, and Gomez. They may not be perfect but it is much better than building around a player that dissent make others around him better. At this point we should be concerned with upside and how one meshs with our core talent. Harkless meshes. Melo does not.
Ahh you again. Once you said Roberson had "a bad playoff outing" tells me you didnt watch a second of the series. He was the SG version of Shaq Oniel. Aweful. Houston intentionally fouled him late 4the to put him on the line. Ive never seen that strategy on a guard before. Anyway. Enough about.Riberson.
Fundamentally you are anti Melo. You just dont like the guy. Blame him solely for the knicks shortcomings. I bet your one of the fans who says Melo is greedy for wanting to be traded to NYK versus coming as a free agent. I doubt i can convince of my point on why trade Melo for bench players. My feelings will never change. You cant get me to see trading Melo for bench player Harkless and a player even further down the bench in Leonard. And I never said we would build around Melo. We have 2 years left on his deal and he has an opt out next year. Why take on fringe players who's contract goes to 2020. I am not totally against trading but the players being discussed simply do not cut it. It seems youth is the only criteria your looking for. Sorry I need sometype of upside.
Look, no one needs to hate Melo to understand that he's an albatross. You are absolutely correct, a Melo trade for spare parts will suck just like the Ewing trade sucked.
However! In terms of team development and psychological well-being, ANY Melo trade is better than keeping him. Does this mean I'm hopeful? NO. The signing of the Timmy Hardaway turd has put a dagger in whatever hope looked like a week ago.
The audacity of signing this idiot and THEN asking him to play 'D' to earn it is as cruel a joke as any played on Knicks fans in the past forty years.
There is something seriously corrupt going on in the NBA for this kind of **** to happen OVER and OVER and OVER eternally.
