And his salary is only $1.35 million.
Napier is better than Leonard or Harkless. He's a guy who can control the game with the dribble-- we don't have that. He had a few games end of season that shows his potetial
Napier has been in the league for 3 years...turns 26 in a few days, and has not been able to stick with a team for more than a year...Two of those teams, Miami and Orlando, could have used a good PG.Not sure I'm seeing much value here...sorry. Would rather have a #2 pick instead.
Harkless has shown improvement, is young, and fills a need if this trade goes down.
Hard to prove your worth when your career average minutes is 13.7. None of those teams gave him a proper chance. Per 36 minutes he's been getting more productive and more efficient with the ball every year. Besides, at the end of the day, we need to amass young talent. Napier has bags of it.
The question becomes why hasn't he been given a chance?
His playing time has gone down over the years, too.
Comes down to opportunity costs...
I would take a draft pick over Napier at this point...
I would rather give Mayes a chance than Napier if I have to lose the same pick...
I would rather have Baker on my team- If bringing Napier over under contract would mean we have to give Ron up, I would not do it.
Plenty of variables can go into why a player wasn't given a chance such as poor management, too much talent in front of him, injuries...etc
We can ask the same question for every guy on the roster, Baker and Mayes in particular. For example why wasn't either of them drafted if they were that good?
Besides, getting Napier doesn't mean we have to lose baker or Mayes. We could sign Mayes to a two way deal, cut randle and have frank, baker and Napier as our pg core..pretty decent group if you ask me.
