I would do that. But w Williams gone would Houston give up Gordon?

Too bad houston wont....Why would Houston give up 2 core pieces (essentially 2 starters as Gordon played starter mins) for a player that everyone knows has to be moved?

I agree in that I can't see Houston doing it but if they were willing I'd do so instantly

Been hearing this too last couple of hours. Apparently this kid is Jason Kidd's son, and he was the first to report Noah's recruitment of Lee last summer, and Lopez being involved in the Rose trade. Has some credibility.

We would get back Harkless (24) and Leonard (25). Both get paid about 10 mill per year and have 3 more years on their contracts (Melo has 2). But they're young and rotation players. Mo had the best season of his career last year in an expanded role.

Not sure about this.

why had extra money in a trade for melo, it's just like trading chandler for calderon and a extra yr on his contract

Then they have to hope: 1.) Melo gets a buyout; 2.) Melo chooses them over Cleveland.

If they don't value Melo much that's one thing (and possible). They may only see him as addition only if it doesn't cost them anything.

But IF they do value adding him to Harden and Paul, they can't just assume he's walking through the door if they sit on their hands and wait.

Wonder if we trade Courtney Lee to Rockets for the $10mil non-guaranteed contracts. I think he played for them a few years ago and they have a habit of bringing players back. Could use another SG since they traded Lou

Hmm. I could see Lee included in the Melo trade too. But we would need more assets coming back than Harkless, Leonard and maybe Hartenstein.

To update on melo to rockets:

On clutchfans they said money said his plan in one sentence was "add more USA basketball players". Dantoni also said:

D'Antoni on possibly reuniting with old players: "You make things work because basically off the court your good guys. Times have changed."

D'Antoni (continued): "Hopefully I've gotten a little bit more mellow."

Was that a hint?

Coach of the year matters a bit, but more important Melo making a decision to join Paul has to have included an acceptance of MDA and that Harden is the man, Paul is the QB, and Melo is third fiddle.

This makes sense because then a melo and lee for ariza and Gordon + non guaranteed contracts makes sense.

Ariza just recruited CP3 to Houston and they are close, doubt he goes anywhere.

Of the guys left on Houston, Ariza and Gordon are the most liked

True. But to build a super team these days tough decisions need to be made. Boston today let go of their third option and best defender on their team to bring in Hayward. So did Houston with Patrick Beverley.
