ummm ok
i want to say let him carry his latvian ass but i like the kid, but damn thats a haul, especially if we get to keep all of our picks this and next year

while that's a huge quantity of assets, KP will likely far and away be the best player in the deal. He's viewed as Dirk 2.0. There's a reason that Ainge, the guy who stockpiles picks like his life depends upon it, is willing to entertain trade discussions with us, despite Phil's incredibly high asking price

Hoarded assets don't make an impact to games until realized. Ainge saves them for just in case something like this comes available. Good move by Ainge and a good move by Phil for drafting the right player that can help get assets for a rebuild.

Standing pat might be a mistake--tweak down and get a deal consummated.

How is is too much. You go as far as you can. Remember he doesnt have to trade KP. This only happens if he gets this type of return.

Isola was on the radio yesterday saying that Phil was from the Holtzman era and would never trade KP to the Celtics. Missing an exit meeting must trump that.

Sounds like Phil has asked for Brown, Crowder and both the Net picks. Sounds like a good start Phil. I guess he woke up from his nap

I don't think he wants to trade him within the division. However if they are willing to give yu their lotto pick, The Nets Pick(another top 3 pick) along with crowder or brown wouldn't it be tough to not consider?

The Celtics have offered the Knicks a deal for Kristaps Porzingis that includes their No. 3 pick, an additional lottery pick that they think they can acquire tonight and a player, executives familiar with Boston's offer told ESPN. Obviously, the trade would be contingent on Boston acquiring that pick, which would likely be ahead of the Knicks' No. 8 pick. It is unclear at this point if the Knicks have interest in the trade. Phil Jackson said the club is taking calls on trades for Porzingis.

Would that mean possible 3 picks in first 8? I think that's a no brainer

Wow. That is a lot more than Booker and the 4th pick.

I'm starting to believe that Phil asked for more than Booker and the top 4 pick...that's why the Suns pulled out

Having said that, Phil should resist the temptation.

Jaylen Brown is a legit talent. Kid is a future starter or more in this league. The Knicks could add Jackson or Tatum... plus they still have the #8 who could be Monk.... or even a big man like Markkanen. Add Willy, Chasson, plumlee, ndour.... Melo, lee, kuz, koq, thomas, noah.... let's go!

i hate to get into hypothetical situation but crowder brown and two very high draft picks plus not surrendering our own or those two players plus two high draft picks in this draft where we keep our picks is not a nice haul.
lets say number 3 number 5 and number 8 , plus we can still trade melo and lee and oquinn for more assets players, that would be a full rebuild.

The key here is to hold and read the situation - do not lower the price. Ainge is a great executive and today is the ripe opportunity to see a great executive break.

I'm not sold on Brown. SOmetimes he flashes in a great way and other times it's wtf?!?

Also i'd have to imagine we use the 3 on Jackson, in which case we would be better served by ultra competitive, tough defender Smart who actually is a very efficient (though not flashy) paser

You may be right. But if you get 2 all-stars out of it plus another good piece that would probably speed up the rebuild. Plus we have our own pick which should be a good player. I'm not saying I want it to happen but it would be a bigtime haul for a 2nd year player

we need so much at a certain point it would be insane not to say yes. but I do feel compelled to remind people that KP will likely be the best player in any deal, by a mile, and the players that get drafted will hold far less value than the pick... Brian Windhorst said something like "first round picks are like new cars--their value plummets the second you drive it off the lot" a month or so ago. I agree. Barring injury, the Knicks will get great value for KP whenever they trade him. If we trade with Boston, once we draft all these guys, we wouldn't be able to trade them for KP or equivalent. Not to mention, there is always the risk that we strike out on a pick

I agree with this. But what's the best case with these picks? A potential face of the franchise, who is 21 y/o, and a future star? isn't that what we'd be giving up?

He may be but who knows. This draft has some bigtie talent especially at the very top where we would be if the trade goes down. Also if we get the Nets pick that's another top 3 pick next year. Also we have our pick at 8. Yes you are right not all picks work out but we still don't Know if KP will reach his ultimate potential or if his body will hold up

That's the point. Others, however, are suggesting satisfaction with a much lower haul - hence the comment.

If Knicks get 3,5 with 8 that's potentially Jackson, Fox and Kinnard. That's a great haul. As good as KP is three outweigh one. Knicks need volume
