CLE is going for Butler - they don't want Melo. BOS obviously doesn't want Melo. With chatter of CP going elsewhere, not sure the Clips want Melo. Haven't heard of any other teams willing to trade draft assets and/or promising youth for a 33yr-old, declining player on an over-valued contract. Surprise surprise. So - to save face, does Melo drop his NTC? I think he just might. That or he forces Phil to plain out cut him, which would be an ignominious end to his NY tenure. Does Melo want that? Papabear SaysWhy don't you just stop it" This ain't about Melo. Melo came to play ball every game. Now you may not like his game. This is about Phil Jackson's ego. Watch" Ain't no star's coming here because of the way he treated Melo. Look a lot of these draft picks especially the potential stars will not like being second fiddle to Jackson like Jackson is the star and not them. Until Jackson is gone the Knicks will hardly get to the playoffs. (only if they buy a ticket) Your making too much sense for these boards. Even if Phil resets for the fourth time in four years and trades the Unicorn, these blind followers will still claim his 5 year plan is right on track. Both Melo and Phil have been crap. They deserve each other. Criticizing one doesn't support the other. Saying Melo came to play ball every game is laughable. He came to chuck bad shots and take naps on defense. (But, no, that doesn't remove blame from Phil.) Riiiiiiiiiigth Bonn.. Tell us the story again about how our 29 win team got raped in "The Trade", again. Melo came here and we went to the playoffs three years straight. We actually won the division. But Melo just came here to chuck bad shots and take naps. Got it. Phil came here for $60 mil and cluster-fucqued himself and this franchise into a hole. And now he's managed to alienate the Unicorn, which is the only thing he had managed not to Hinkie to death in four years. This is a player's starphucque league now. Phil hasn't understood that yet. He still thinks it's all about him. Funny, a thread about Melo's ego, when we have the largesse off all ego's sitting in the President's chair. Same, tired old BS, new day; trade Melo, Melo should trade himself, Bench Melo, Cut Melo, Send Melo to China... I was talking about last year's Melo. A few years ago, he was definitely better though still not worth his contract. Now, he's shooting worse than every team in the league and lazy on defense. BadMelo came here just last year? Come on Bonn, you're not really that weak. No, last year was part of a steady (predictable) decline. (Predictable since he's in his 30s, has the wrong mindset, and has about 20 seasons worth of minutes wearing down his body.) UNDERSTAND what your saying. But how is it predictable when he played the "DadMelo" role just one year removed. Do you really think all the Phil meddling had nothing to.do with last year's bad play, chemistry, record? And not just talking about Melo. And may agree that you have to assume a players decline after 30. But then why would a good Prez give that player a 5 year max with NTC? Actually, Melo can be a very good player under certain circumstances. (I'm not a Melohater like Jrod thinks.) One of his biggest flaws (maybe the biggest) is that he seems to think if he doesn't have ourstanding teammates, he has to take terrible shots. Well, actually, given the choice between watching the likes of: 1) Toney Dougless drive to the rack and then drive to the threepoint line and then drive to the rack and then drive back out to the three point line and then brick a layup off the bottom of the backboard or 2) Landry Fields of the parabola J or 3) BrokenStat dribbling off his size 20's or 4) Fishlips catching passes off the back of his skull or 5) HOF PepsiSpill Coach blowing wide open layups or 6) Brickmasters like the ghosts of Jose Calderone and Pablo 7) I need to go on?Now you're a HOF-bound max player with a penchant for hitting game winners. Who would you rather see take a bad shot? Steve Novak? Lunchpail Lou? NBDL Galloway? Tradebait Son of Tim Hardaway? What's left of Kenyon/Camby? (Okay, so I did go on) I'll admit the DOUCHE should and could play some defense, or any defense nowadays. But singling out shooting as the biggest flaw of a pure shooter when he finds himself in the midst of league flotsam is a stretch, ain't it? Well, this is where you and I differ. I do not believe the name of the player taking the shot is nearly as important as the location of the shot and distance of the nearest defender. A shot near the rim or a trip to the FT line by virtually anyone in the NBA is better than a contested mid-range shot by Melo (or almost anyone else in the league). And many of those other guys also have other spots on the court where they're effective. Guys like KD and Steph realize this. That's why a guy like Zaza with very limited offensive skill can still have a 6, 8, or even double digit scoring quarter. KD and Steph will gladly give him the high percentage shot. Eventually the defense adjusts and it, ironically, creates better shots for KD and Steph. That's just one example. No matter how bad your NBA-level teammates are, you shouldn't be taking contested mid-range shots with a lot of time on the clock. Bonn...I know you know Basketball. Judging by your posts which do have insight. But can you really name a player in the league that would have won with these guys on their squad? Kyle O'Quinn, Justin Holiday, Kuz, Noah, LT(Injured), Ndour, Plumlee(NOt the good one), Baker, Randle, Sasha, Lou, AA, Thanasis. Jose, Early, Fredette, Galloway, Grant, Rolo, Seraphin, DWill, Cole, Acy, Bargnani, TH jr., Dalembert, Larkin, Shved. Jason Smith, Travis Wear? How many of these guys are D league Caliber, no longer in the league or sitting on someones bench with limited PT?
