How would that get them past GSW? Kyrie practically gave the production of two all-stars in games 3 to 5! I don't think they'll get anything of such great value for Kyrie that they'd fare any better against GSW.
He was only great in two games not 3 and when he is not shooting well what else does he gives you. They would get some lesser players on offense but they could improve on defense and get more solid offensive players.
Well, that would be selling high (whereas trading Love would be selling lower). I'm not opposed to it but I think keeping the big 3 and adding Melo has a better chance of working. It's a gamble that Melo can stay healthy and play harder and smarter. It still doesn't have great odds but no options do. How much of a difference would top defensive players really make? KD shot like 65 or 70% against LeBron. He's not guardable.
I have Nardog/Knickzingis/newyork4ever

type trade idea that could solve some problems.
Knicks - Trades: Anthony, Lee to the Cavs
Cavs - Trades: Thompson, Frye, Jefferson, and Taveres to Portland and Shump to the knicks
Blazers - Trades: Leonard and Turner to the knicks and Harkless to the Cavs
So the results will be:
NY receives - Turner, Leonard, Shump, #20 pick, #26 pick, and Cavs 2021 protected 1st(probably similar to the Dallas/Phi(Noel trade)
Por receives - Thompson, Frye, Jefferson, #44 pick, and #58 pick
Cle receives - Melo, Lee, and Harkless.
I think this could possibly help all teams. NY will add picks for taking on salary and move on from Melo.
The Blazers save nearly $10m this year and another $7m+ the following summer while gaining a legit rebounder to platoon with Nurkic in Thompson and two hustle defenders in Shump and Jefferson. Plus they get two 2nd rd picks to play with.
The Cavs get the Wings to match up with GSW. They improve their bench and team even though they lose a good rebounder.
One caveat. I think you can get the cavs to remove the protection if the Knicks and Cleveland agree to trade O'Quinn in a separate trade to slide into their trade exception before they lose it.
Is this to crazy? Did I go full Nardog/Knickzingis/newyork4ever?
