Jeff Nelson
Without Jeff Nelson, the Yankees don't win multiple World Series in the 90s.
Sure, Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams got a lot of the press. So did Clemens, and Randy Johnson, and Chuck Knoblauch, but no one talks about Jim Leyritz, Randy Velarde, Gerald Williams, Charlie Hayes, Mike Stanton, Scott Brosius, etc.
When you are at the top, you get all the credit if you win. You get all the blame if you lose. No one gives a f**k about Jeff Nelson.
Tom Coughlin got a lot of credit for winning two SuperBowls, does he do it without Spags running the defense? But that's how it works, also in reverse, if Spags fails, it's still Coughlins fault.
Melo wanted to be "The Man" in NY. OK, he got what he wanted. Part of what comes with it is if you lose, it's all on you. Fair, unfair, who cares, it's not how most fans operate. Play the right way and you give no one ammo to hurt you or badmouth you, but they will do it anyway.
Just like they say in the service, it's your fault because ITS YOUR TURN. It's that simple. Sometimes you are wrong just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. However Jackson and Melo have both done things to hurt this team, so they aren't blameless here.
As the rumor goes, when Tiger Woods got caught cheating, who he feared the most was his mother. Who was cheated on by Earl Woods and apparently the story goes she slapped Tiger and told him, that now everyone will look at me, you and your kids and they will all think we are cheap low class trash. Fair, unfair, doesn't matter, it's how it goes, when you are at the top, people want to drag you down. When you are at the top, often you do things to help people drag you down.
A lot of people here have piss poor critical thinking skills. If Jose Canseco taught the world anything is, just because you don't like hearing it, doesn't mean it's not true. You can like or dislike Phil Jackson and still have a valid point about the job he's doing. Or not doing. You can like or dislike Melo and still have a valid about what he is or is not doing for this team. People claim "hate" because it's an easier way to dismiss other people for not thinking exactly like them.
It's not hard. Play the game the right way, and then you'll start hearing things you want to hear from the public. Live your life the right way, and you'll start having chicks blow you, and having good opportunities and seeing what life has to offer. It's really no different that most things in life, just start doing things the right way and good things will tend to happen. Melo and Jackson don't care, and they have to eat crap for it. They made their bed, let them lie in it. It's not "hate" if they don't care enough to put in enough to avoid most of the criticism they get.
