I don't know what thread this post was a part of but I do know that at least I had the BALLS to post my predictions going back to 07 in another thread and I think it's easy to post something someone said in an effort to embarrass them since we all post so many things over the years and NO ONE is perfect. I clearly am not embarrassed as I POSTED A LIST OF MY OWN PREDICTIONS over the years. I didn't post everyone else's predictions or dig to find something embarrassing from you. It's not necessary to do that to argue my point in this thread. You however, seem to think this is a good way to make your point, which is fine for you, but i'll just continue to make my points without resorting to this tactic.

not embarrassing you, just want you to see that its always the same pattern yet you will stick to your guns and still always ignore the validity of alternate opinions thinking that they are always wrong.

There are a lot of slamming going on with anybody who questions the super optimism and points out some risks and "negatives" ...

And, the reason that you don't care or ever learn from your previous predictions is that you don't go back and modify your process. You just brush it off as if eh ... so what. This makes your predictions non quantified and nullified.

Just like the pros, posters should also be subject to anyone auditing their predictions especially when they yell at others for not agreeing with them.

Just ranting because I know that my honest attempts and making valid arguments for your prediction history requiring some introspection, yet you will just ignore and continue.

Yet being that you are all optimism you don't get called out but if it was the other way around and there was a negative prediction, the poster would get called and obviously if they did it all the time, they would have zero credibility on this board.

That injury rationale bothers me tho. First of all you just can't know what will happen in that dept. No team can predict good health. I prefer to lower that factor in making an assessment. The Knicks medical staff has looked at Rose and Noah and if there was something that suggested they were in a really bad condition, they would've see it. Instead the reports i've read suggest they were in relatively good condition. At their ages and injury history there will always be some issues that crop up. None of these guys is going to play a full 82. Still that doesn't mean that we're gonna lose games because these guys are seriously hurt and miss a ton of games.

If anything I think having so much talent in the top of the rotation will make the game easier for everyone. No one should have to force things. Shots should come easier.

I thought the Podcast was a bit too snarky. There were good points but also they seemed to undersell much of the roster improvement which IMO makes no sense. As Fishmike said, how reasonable is it to think that there will be practically no positive impact of adding Rose, Noah, Lee and Jennings into this rotation? This top 7 rotation is SOLID AS HELL. Yet when talking about the Knicks they tend to assess each player in a vacuum. That's not how Basketball works. This is a team sport and it does matter who a player is on the floor with and how the group works together. This roster looks like it makes all kinds of sense together. Most importantly is how they all come together under Hornacek's schemes.

I think the roster and team has improved. 32 wins to about 42 wins in my opinion. that's a 10% increase. but im not expecting a championship any time soon

He's got a point, man. You consistently misinterpret possibilities being probabilities, which leads to your predictions being wildly off e.g. the Knicks being title contenders with a broken down Amar'e and Toney Douglas running the show.

That being said, it is POSSIBLE Rose and Noah make it through the season healthy but far from PROBABLE. It is POSSIBLE Rose and Noah return to form but not PROBABLE; much in the same way that it was the case for Antonio McDyess, Steve Francis, Andrea Bargnani, Tracy McGrady and the slew of former stars that we gambled on and lost big.

Amare is fair... but of the guys you mentioned were any as young as Rose? Or as good as he was to end last season?

I think McDyess is probably a fair comparison. Dyess was 27 when we traded for him, coming off a major injury. One difference is we gave up a ton to get McDyess. I think we gave up very little to get Rose, especially since we got Noah who is miles better than Lopez.

Rose believes he’ll have more passing opportunities starting from Anthony’s shooting ability and how he draws defenders.

“I think he’s going to make the game way easy for the entire team,” Rose said. “And that leaves everybody open on the other side, the weak side. You add shooters to that, you add just other threats on the floor, and you’re going to be a dangerous team. And my job is to just come in and just be a point guard. I think it’s the most talented team I’ve played on, even though I haven’t played with them yet—just looking at the stat sheet, working out with them. So my job is to come in and get everybody going, then have my spot where I can try to dominate the game.”

Noah despite having an awful year scoring the ball, was able to rebound, defend and pass at career levels. I think he won't have to log heavy minutes here and they will look to preserve him enough to be stronger later in the year. It's going to be up to Hornacek and the Training Staff to come up with a plan for how they will manage the older Knicks players who have had injuries. The new Training staff that Phil has put together seems to have done a better job handling the players so we'll see how that goes.

It is POSSIBLE Rose and Noah return to form but not PROBABLE; much in the same way that it was the case for Antonio McDyess, Steve Francis, Andrea Bargnani, Tracy McGrady and the slew of former stars that we gambled on and lost big.

Amare is fair... but of the guys you mentioned were any as young as Rose? Or as good as he was to end last season?

McDyess was 27, McGrady 30 going on 31, Francis was 29 and Bargnani was about 27/28. And all of these guys, aside from Bargnani, showed glimpses before becoming a Knick. They ended up tail-diving when they put on our uniform though....and I'd argue that none of those guys had as severe an injury history as Rose. I'd also argue that McDyess and McGrady demonstrated an actual skillset....I'm still trying to figure out what Rose's is besides once being uberly athletic.

Callmened's friend should be ashamed of himself using his eyeballs rather than judging Rose's speed and workout effort by using Metrics instead. How could this guy's eyes perceive Rose's speed? 😜

neds friend is not the problem, its the ones who get excited and let reports like this mean something to them. Again, Amare was the most in shape and exciting off season exciter in knicks history.

Except Amare had a timeline on his knee. When was Amare's offseason exciting? All I remember is the special shorts he wore to keep his posture right after he hurt his back. Things got much worse after that. Is there anyone that didn't recognize Amare as Walsh's desperate attempt to do something after trading the Knicks lottery pick, players and draft picks to be a player in free agency. Selling future cap space to hide his failures was a huge mistake Walsh made.

there were a couple of offseason that all everyone did was go gaga about how great Amare looked and how in shape he was and how great he sounded to the media and yadayadayada.

This offseason PR means nothing. Maybe is a doctor came out and measured his lateral quickness between years and said that this offseason its 3 times more explosive which should greatly enhance his defense, that would be an interesting take.

The greatest thing about the offseason is that hope is not killed yet with losses. WE ARE UNDEFEATED!!

I don't know what thread this post was a part of but I do know that at least I had the BALLS to post my predictions going back to 07 in another thread and I think it's easy to post something someone said in an effort to embarrass them since we all post so many things over the years and NO ONE is perfect. I clearly am not embarrassed as I POSTED A LIST OF MY OWN PREDICTIONS over the years. I didn't post everyone else's predictions or dig to find something embarrassing from you. It's not necessary to do that to argue my point in this thread. You however, seem to think this is a good way to make your point, which is fine for you, but i'll just continue to make my points without resorting to this tactic.

He's got a point, man. You consistently misinterpret possibilities being probabilities, which leads to your predictions being wildly off e.g. the Knicks being title contenders with a broken down Amar'e and Toney Douglas running the show.

McGrady was a salary dump.

Salary dumps don't warrant a lottery pick still on the first year of his contract, a first round pick swap AND a poorly protected pick.

An aside, I loved McGrady (he and Penny are my favorite players of all-time) but hated that move for the same reasons. That was a heavy price to pay for a disgruntled star that the Rockets would've likely waived anyway especially with them winning 21 consecutive games without the guy. If we so badly wanted to move Jared Jefferies, we could've waited until the offseason AFTER we got confirmation we could get a legitimate star to sign ala what the Warriors just did. Donnie Walsh was a dope.
