Melo was player of the month two consecutive years in April prior to his injury. The year before his injury he played the 4th most minutes in the nba and I believe averaged the most minutes played per game. Conditioning hasn't been an issue for him as a knick.
Yeah Melo should be ready to run and get to the 3pt line. He's not gonna be expected to beat everyone down the floor all game. We have faster players for that. I'm not worried about Melo to be honest. Dude is a baller and the better his teammates are he can raise his level to match. That's why he balls out in Olympic team play.
I agree that he balls out when surrounded by better players......BUT......I also think his game is better in certain wide open free flowing systems with less media and knick pressure. This is like a mental vacation for him.....and it shows he would've balled out in any free flowing system outside of the triangle. I think our new coach will be a refreshing addition for Rose and Melo.
