I believe he is actually the team's number one choice unless of course Melo's "Wining & Dining / Champagning & Campaigning" of KD somehow works a miracle. Batum would fill the deficiencies that Rose presents and easily become our Draymond type player that makes the whole offense go. Plus, I would give anything to hear Clyde say "Batuming & Booming" or "The Doom of Batum"
I agree.. perfect fit. Also he's an excellent 3 when you go small and move Melo/KP to the 4/5
Well since the Knicks/fans do not care about injury concerns then why not go after CHandler Parsons as a 2? Middleton moved from the 4-3-2 and Batum moved from 3-2 so why not give Parsons a look at the 2? He has the skills offensively to play in any system and isn't just a one trick pony on offense. He moves well of screens, he cuts, spots up, runs floor, pick and Pop, facilitate, handle ball in PnR, and post up. He might even have more success at the 2 and make better use of his size going up against 2s.
Defensively, is not an issue either. If people can live with Lee, Henderson, Fournier, Mayo, and Crabbe they should be okay with Parsons. In Houston he had to guard the best wing player on most nights while Harden was hiding on the weaker offensive player. He has the lateral quickness, endurance, and the hips to navigate around screens but his man problem is focus. The same for a lot of players.
To me it comes back to injuries and what the medical say about his Knees. The one thing I like is that Parsons came back from his injury and played very well. If it wasn't for a slow start he would have easily been a 50%-40% guy on a pretty high usg rate. That's impressive. If you are okay with Batum, Beal, Noah, Rose, and other Players with injury concerns should you really be concerned with Parsons when he actually performs well after injuries?
Also, like other wings you can always just slide him down the line up and play small ball since he can play SF/PF too.
