Or to add more Afflalos and Calderons. You gotta look at both sides.

yea will that will be a major problem. Thats why you need infinite capspace so that you don't settle for bums

It would be a problem if we kept tieing our cap up with these type of guys. But we haven't. If you want a chance at a guy like KD with his high wins shares then this is the move you make since he has an expiring deal. Better then signing Rondo to entice him.

Under Phil our cap situation has been pretty well managed overall. True we need to start capitalizing on it. But as long as we maintain the flexibility then eventually we will hit on something. Same angle as Hinkie with the draft picks when you think about it.

As long as we maintain our picks as well.

Phil Jackson seems to want to compete this season and create a winning culture while setting himself up for the strong Free Agent Class of 2017. The plan does seem to be to make the playoffs next season, and in my opinion, a healthy Rose along with a few young players from this draft and some wise signings can definitely make that happen.

Best case scenario is that you win and go back to the playoffs. Worst case scenario is going to the lottery with your pick and 60 millions to spend.

Good job so far, Phil.

I agree, and that's what makes this move so appealing. If DRose gets hurt, we improve our lottery position. If he doesn't (and he plays well) we get our unicorn playoff experience and Melo has his star running mate.

Phil gave himself a win-win move here, all while maintaining maximum cap flexibility for 2017 FA class, one that has lots of riches to plunder. Gotta hand it to him, he's either smart, lucky, or a combination thereof. But me likey.

When was the last time Rose and Melo played a whole season?

Odds are heavily in favor of one or both missing significant time. Probably at the same time.

Do you ever see any positive in anything ever?? I don't think i can remember ever seeing a positive post from you which is crazy. The Knicks are in a really really good position these days with money, players and after this draft we even have all of our 1st round picks. What's to not like?????

?

I love the trade. It spells out 2017 is the year to go all in, not 2016.

It's a classic sacrifice your pawns before the check mate move. Seems like I'm saying something positive???

Yeah, Chuck's onboard with this move. Whether a fan likes DRose or not, it's hard to argue against the logic here.

of course you can argue ... why trade lopez and grant for zero value? cause he will expire? you could have gotten much more.

so here is what phil is thinking ....
