They need to add him they won't have any cap space if they sign a max player they are going to have to get lucky.

Do we know what kind of underwear he is wearing? This must be important to know, since he seems to be flaunting it.

Is that even for sure A.Bennett in that pic??

folks...im joking of course. no bennett isnt a 5, no bennett isnt a draymond green (or jeff green), he shouldnt be put in the same sentence as ANY of them. lol

sure he's young but i never thought he was physically talented or motivated to play NBA basketball. sure he's young and i hope he gets a chance to shine in summer league - but until then theres nothing to be curious about

again, im half joking. i know its summer and we have nothing else to talk about. im just shocked that we're talking about bennett. lol

Nothing to be curious about?? There's everything to be curious about with this kid cause we know he has a lot of talent but he hasn't shown it yet in the NBA which makes me curious to see if he can.

Shotgun approach...you look at enough players and maybe you pick up a keeper or two. Pretty common technique, and needed for a team with no draft picks at this time and one with open spots on the roster.

I'm doubtful about him as a player, and was totally stunned when he was chosen #1 (I seem to recall reading that he was surprised, too.}, but the Knicks giving him a look and guys around here speculating about him does not seem out of the ordinary.

So what do you think- offer him $60M/4yrs?

He was easily a top 3 player in that draft and the only reason so many people were shocked that he went #1 is because everyone thought Clev was gonna draft V.Oladipo #1.

There are MANY players that I have curiosity and interest in, especially at vet mins to cap friendly contracts but I will just name mainly a few that are UNDER the Radar

I would have more curiosity in the ex Net, Sixer, Blazer, Rocket, Kings

I would have more interest in Thomas Robinson
If we can sign him on a CAP FRIENDLY 2-3year deal vet min to 3m per year to give us Early Bird Rights or Full Bird Rights

Another "Curious" player I would have interest in that

Dwayne Dedmon *RFA in Orlando as we saw how Bizmack Biyombo played vs the Cavs, I think Dedmon can play a similar role which is basically a Chris Anderson, birdman birdman, *younger birds*

Some other notables include

Luke Babbit *he has gotten stronger and added some post/mid post/dribbles with his awkward lefty movements*
Koustas Pap
Jakarr Sampson

Darrell Arthur/Trevor Booker

DMO

*if we are able to trade Lopez and get back a very good return in assets/cap space*

Jeff Whithey
Kris Humprhies

Justin Holiday *was surprised GS did not resign him, he signed with Atlanta on a 2year vet min deal pretty much, with team option on 2nd year in which was traded to Bulls for Hinrich*
Thanasis, I still have high hopes on him and think the hiring of JH could help his development, I think he could eventually take a huge step forward just as Trevor Ariza did as a developed a shot with much greater confidence and using his versatility/length with The Lakers and the versatile talents of Pau Gasol/Odom/Ariza along with Bynum/Kobe taking much of the attention
Ariza took advantage of being the 4th/5th option and provided steals/blocks/rebounds, *basically could defend 1-4 with some stretch 4s* though Thanasis is probably closer to a G/F but probably will defend 1-3's with maybe some SMALL STRETCH 4's like Matt Barnes
Part of me also hopes that we will be able to sign Giannes one day after CA's contract ends sometime about after 2020

Thomas Robinson

I thought he was drafted too high in the 2012 draft (Anthony Davis and both the BIGGEST STEALS in Lilliard 6th and Andre Drummond 9th in the draft
The draft had a lot of talent including undrafted talents like Kent Baezmore, JaMychal Green, Jonathon Simmons *signed a 2year vet min deal with the Spurs last summer*, Hollis Thompson *shooter in Philly*

However, it has been 4years since he was drafted and he has put in the time to develop in to an option of the bench that could be a double double, runs the floor well, and can be a POST player in which would fit in with head coach, JH and the Triangle system

Some more notable free agents that probably have been on radars by everyone

Stretch 4/5
===============

Jon Leur/Mirza Televic *whoever is cheaper, though Jon Leur/Willy G have similar games, he probably will be cheaper than Mirza Televic *better shooter*
Darrell Arthur
DMO *if Houston does not keep him and could be signed for cheap, last season he barely played and was his first year back from his surgeries, he has great post skills and can hit the wide open 3*

to replace MO SPEIGHTS

I think GS should sign these players if they can on cap friendly deals and let Harrison Barnes go if they can sign cheaper players to replace his role such as
A combination of role players
Some of which could pull a David West

VET'sS
==========

Matt Barnes/Jared Dudley/Wesley Johnson along with Kris Humphries all vets that will probably take much less to go to GS, especially Barnes who played for the Warriors that upset Dallas and has stated that he wants to go there already

Solomin Hill
James Ennis/Alonzo Gee

I think most Knick fans pray we land Durant this summer and Westbrook next summer
One can dream cant they?

Its funny how some have said they DO NOT WANT DURANT, he is a TOP TIER TALENT regardless
If he does not want to go to Spurs or GS, then his best chances of winning should be in the Eastern Conference, along with a team that can also sign Westbrook a year later

You have some very interesting low tier players in your post but this thread was about a guy that fell out of the league basically. He can likely be had for next to nothing and has significant upside, despite his failures so far. There are of course other role players who have shown they can be decent options but they don't have the same upside of Bennett if he could get his head right. Bennett is only 23 and thus my curiosity about him.

The Knicks have carried some pretty useless guys on the roster over the years and so I don't think it would hurt to take a flyer on Bennett if they liked what they saw from him at the Vet Mini Camp. That's the main caveat. Did he impress the Knicks enough to peak their curiosity as well?

ay Triano almost had to do a double-take when a much-appreciated reinforcement for the Canadian men’s basketball team arrived at training camp Wednesday morning.

It’s not that the head coach didn’t recognize 2013 No. 1 NBA draft pick and one-time Toronto Raptor forwardAnthony Bennett, but it was the slimmed-down Bennett who arrived that jarred Triano.

“His body composition has changed,” Triano said of the noticeably thinner Bennett. “Last year he couldn’t have practised like this the whole time, we had to play him in spurts and I thought today he was very good.”

Bennett declined to speak with reporters following his first workout with Canada and after his first appearance at the Air Canada Centre practice facility since being unceremoniously waived by the Raptors in February.

Trying to resurrect an NBA career that’s seen him leave three teams — Cleveland by trade, Minnesota after engineering a buyout and Toronto after being cut — the 23-year-old has had recent auditions with New York and Brooklyn, trying to at least cadge an invitation to an NBA training camp in the fall.

Triano said Canada Basketball was able to work out insurance concerns that allowed Bennett to take part in the final training camp practice before the team heads to Europe for a series of exhibition games starting Monday.

Bennett, who had shone at times for the national team in the past, is expected to play in the summer’s marquee event — a six-team, last-ditch Olympic qualification tournament early next month that Canada has to win to make it to the Rio Games.

“He was a big part of our team last summer, at the Pan Am Games he was outstanding, even in the (Mexico City Olympic) qualifier he was very good,” Triano said of Bennett. “It’s great to have him back here, another experienced guy.”

Bennett does have the floor-stretching skills that are vital for forwards in international basketball and his addition to a Canadian team missing half a dozen key NBA players will be significant. It’s impossible to predict whether he can contribute enough for Canada to qualify for the Olympics for the first time since Sydney 2000 but the added depth will help.

Triano’s team got another boost Wednesday with the arrival of forward Khem Birch, who played in Turkey last season.

“(He) is a guy who had to make a decision whether he was going to play in the summer league or play for his country and he decided to be here,” Triano said. “That’s another huge thing for us.”

The roster remains in flux, Triano said, holding out hope that Cleveland Cavalier centre Tristan Thompson may join the team when the NBA final ends and a final roster for the Olympic qualifier doesn’t have to be set until July.

“We do have to submit names and we can’t put everyone’s name on (a list) but if they’ve been part of our program and there’s a chance, then it would be something we would look at,” Triano said of later additions. “We’d have to decide whether it makes sense on timing and number of exhibition games that we play.”

Did you see the tweet that says there is speculation he has a commitment from an nba team because he was able to get insurance to play for Team Canada? I am hoping it is the Knicks.

Yeah I saw that. If it was me as a player i'd choose the Knicks over the Nets, if I had the choice. Even tho the Nets have more open roster spots, NYK have a better outlook right now and for the future.

is it about future outlook? or playing time so that you can make the best of your opportunity?

go to BKNets to get playing time
go to NYKnicks to get media attention

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Should be interesting to see which team he ends up with. With NY he could be a replacement for DWill if he opts out.

Canada had a 48-45 lead with Philip Scrubb scoring 16 points in the first 20 minutes and finishing the game with 27 points and 7/8 threes. Khem Birtch, the new addition in the roster of the Greek champs Olympiacos who is expected to travel to Athens tomorrow, also played for Canada and had 12 points and 7 rebounds. Former no1 draft pick and now free agent Anthony Bennett had 21 points in 22 minutes.

I've always liked Birch. Followed him closely when he was in the DL. Nice pickup for team Canada. Take a look at these highlights from this season -- man, he looks even more spry and athletic than I remember. Also looks like he's worked on his offensive skills -- some nice quick moves in the post and he can drill a mid-range J if left open. Then there's the stellar defense he provides... Up to me, this guy would very much be in the conversation for a roster spot next season. Complements guy's like Willy H. and KP beautifully. Tell me this guy wouldn't be an ideal role player next to these two.. And he'd come for the minimum. Still young too -- only 23 years old.

I'm Kinda Curious About Anthony Bennett
