You want to develop talent then you need continuity of coach. Why do you guys feel Rambis won't be able to develop talent? There a lot of coaches who can develop talent. I think Rambis can get developing talent up to par.
There is absolutely no need for a new coach here. Just stick with Rambis and go forward.
did you defend the bargnani trade too?
I wanted nothing to do with Bargnani. I wanted the pick.
Getting back to Rambis for a minute, he has been a developmental coach for years. In particular Defense and big man offense. Teaching the Triangle as well. I think Phil wants to keep Rambis in the fold for those reasons. He doesn't have to be the Head coach in order to do those things.
This I agree with - Rambis may well be a great developmental coach. But that to me is different than an on the floor general - which is what you need at head coach.
Vogel developed Paul George, Danny Granger, Roy Hibbert, Lance Stephenson into all-star caliber players with the way he used and deployed them ON THE FLOOR. George Hill has progressed a lot, too. Even Myles Turner made major strides his first season under Vogel. Ian Mahimi, too.
Vogel has done great work in Indiana - top defense in the league several years, all while developing great young players. Bird and co drafted well, but Vogel did a lot of the in-game development of these guys. What's the difference you say? Look at Jerian Grant. Some guys need to be taught their role in games, learn how to play minutes and how to be effective in those minutes.
I think Vogel would be an excellent candidate to develop our young guys IN GAMES. Which to me is different than developing them off the court in practice and such. Of course you need both - but the in game part is tricky and I'm not sure Rambis has it.
