They want to win, well if you put lets say M.Conley and N.Batum or D.Derozan and R.Rondo with our front court then they will win and they'll do it playing in the Mecca that all these players always talk about how much they love playing at the Garden. The problem would of course be that they'd have to take a reasonable contract to make it happen but players were doing this just a couple of years ago. Let me dream you bastards.
i like the dream approach. THink of how many rings we can put on the table.
personally i'd prefer a push for Durant and/or Derozan. Durant because he's awesome in so many ways on/off court. And he's already been on stacked teams and lost. Phil could sell the missing ingredient is a playoff-winning system. Strangely, though he'd be a tougher fit than Derozan (it's just the undeniable talent). Derozan intrigues me more and more. His game continues to improve and he seems to have that triangle game. Big question will be whether he'll be better still if he's not the other teams primary focus on D (as he currently is) or whether he'll be worse from having to share the ball more.
I also like Batum and Barnes
WOuldn't touch Rondo -- too risky as an individual and also his game. Never been hot on Conley and trending down IMO: too old, too short, and too expensive. Add to that now maybe too risky (with injuries). My guess is Memphis has already told him they're not giving him big money. Otherwise his actions make no sense, especially given his lobbying for M. Gasol. We want guys to come to the Knicks for the reasons you say above-- i.e., the dream, not because we're simply paying more money. That never works
