For instance, those whom you may be classifying as a "Silly Simpleton" may have different things going on in their lives, less time to devote to looking up statistics or may just have a different take on the entertainment value of both the Knicks and a fan message board than you. It doesn't make them any less intelligent nor insightful, just different. Your posting style seems to have no tolerance for others with different styles as it is aggressive, bullying and personal (I've high-lighted examples in this post alone). I would question that you might be a bit on the insecure side in that you need to constantly remind everyone about how smart you are. If you viewed that as an attack than that speaks again to insecurity, which has almost everything to do with emotional weakness and little to do with intelligence level.

2) You are attempting to make a straw man argument by creating a fictitious opponent on this board to your viewpoint. There are very few here who make the claims that all advanced stats are worthless or who completely ignore statistics. The differences can be observed in the varying degrees of importance that they may claim to place on how accurate or useful the predictive nature of the historical empirical data can be. Most (as I) will likely agree that advanced stats are not an absolute but a part of the evaluation when combined with other factors. Some here also feel that stats should not be used in isolation, but rather should be performed to compliment situational and visual analysis.

3) Basketball advanced stats are not absolute and are still in development. For instance, I am unaware of normalizing stats to account for a plus / minus factor based on how effective the unit or team accompanying a player is.

4) To use your analogy, simply reading a book on 2+2 and then shouting everyone down does not make one smart (although it might make them petulant). Understanding why 2+2 does not equal 5 and explaining it to others is more of a sign of intelligence. Statistics are often great for developing an understanding and explaining why......but not infallible nor absolute for predicting forward.

Yep. It isn't speculation, assumptions, anonymous sources or mind reading. Some don't always find facts thread worthy and prefer fiction. Martin and Andrew run a great site and are tolerant of most threads no matter how irrational or fact based.

You post some total bs if it fits your agenda. My advice, get a filter and don't just go with what fits how you feel. Look for sources and interviews. Speculation, assumptions, anonymous sources, mind reading etc. is just the ny media looking for clicks on their sites.

No I have an idea what you post. For a guy that presents as a stat/data guy you have posted some mind reading, assumption, speculation, anonymous source based articles that have no basis in reality but have a target and appear to be agenda based. Not going to get into throwing insults around just going with facts and actual observations.

If its interesting/entertain it, I post it. If it will annoy some of the dopey's then I would post it. Heck some times I just post it to get you to put on your baton.

I certainly posts agenda base content (for numerous logical reasons).

I try to stay away from creating melo pooped posts. Not a good look and not very interesting or news worthy or anyone who gives a sh1t.

You told us that Tim Frazier is off to a good start with very good numbers. That is interesting and something to follow. Not super illuminating but its a start.

When you post agenda based content that is based on fiction it might be a better look if you didn't defend it adamantly or try to justify what the writer is saying without data or actual sources. Otherwise it appears like you believe the fiction that you are posting. Good luck.
