ugh

dk7th, just when I was still amazed that your first line of the OP wasn't "1. TRADE THE DOUCHELO!!!", you have to revert to form.

What's it going to take to stop "The Trade" was a "fleecing" madness? You've already written off the Mayor and Moz, and Gallo, by your own account is the greatest forward on the IR. How, exactly did we get fleeced? By getting Ray Felton back instead of one of the other three? The 3 million dollars? The draft picks that we would have probably pissed away on another Bargs-type trade?

What exactly do you have to type out yourself in order to stop? When Denver has to move the team to Columbus, Ohio?

broad strokes:

1)after years of isiah thomas/james dolan ineptitude the nba steps in and forces dolan to hire walsh
2)two years of roster flush, ridding the knicks of bad long contracts for bad shorter contracts
3)get under the cap and be in the lbj sweepstakes
4)bring in amare stoudemire, a sf/pf, under pressure from ownership: dolan wants a "name" to fill msg
5)lbj pulls a collusion fast one and takes his talents to south beach
6)knicks 24-24 and headed for an 8th spot in the playoffs that year in a very weak east
7)lockout looms with wil chandler expiring, gallo on a rookie deal, mozgov developing
8)felton on a two-year audition deal drawn up by walsh, clearly a move to prepare for a pg upgrade

there was NO NEED to acquire another sf/pf, and NO NEED to trade away pieces for a player who wanted to be here. if he wants to money the nets could have paid for him or he could have stayed. people who want to blame everything on dolan are exonerating melo for chasing money. NO

an even broader overview:
1) You say Melo chases money, but he also wants to be "here". One must make up one's mind about the causation of a particular evil. Please pick one. He was either going to force his way here or go get all those precious rubles to play near Red Hook. I'm pretty sure Melo in Brooklyn would have saved you years of angst.
2) your final NO NEED premise overlooks the fact that the uninsured Stat was already broken down.
3) no need for a SF? when your two options are BrokeBackIRooster and the Flatline Mayor? Really?
4) I'm not sure if your point 8) is looking at 5 years ago through the Golden State lens of here and now.
5) Knicks headed for 8th spot with a broken down Stat? And Gallo was just a lock to remain healthy and pick up all that double double machine slack? take another hit.

You say the lockouts looming, but there's NO NEED to trade for a player who could have ended up at the Barclays.

The trade improved our franchise. YES.

Wow, the trade really improved our franchise. Look at how many championship banne.....

Oh.

Good one. Melo was supposed to turn this
2009-10 29-53, .354, No playoffs
2008-09 32-50, .390, No playoffs
2007-08 23-59, .280, No playoffs
2006-07 33-49, .402, No playoffs
2005-06 23-59, .280, No playoffs

into instant chips.

But I'm sure Denver is happy with all those championship banne...or at least division banne... or...

Oh wait.

Do anyone has a clue of what happen to the 2015-16 Knicks with a 22-22 record?
Why are the 2015-16 Knicks record 24-35 after their last 15 games?

All the top winning teams after the All-Star break has Gelled their starter-lineup n their bench-lineup using a 9 to 11 man rotation each game .. Teams like GS Warriors, Spurs, OKC, Clippers, Cavs, Hawks, Cetics, and Raptors .. These top winning teams could rest 4 or 5 of their starters on the bench while their bench-lineup keep them in the game.
The Knicks started the season running 2 different lineups .. starters n a 2nd unit Bench-lineup
For some reason i liked the Knicks 2nd unit lineup more than the starter lineup

WHY? Did Phil/Fisher/Rambis STOP developing our 2nd unit bench-lineup so early in the season?
The Knicks 2nd unit lineup were healthy n fit to perform in all our 59 games so far.
Bench players Quinn, D.Will, Lance, Gallo, and Grant has not been in the same lineup for the past 30 games.
There is no reason why all 5 players on the 2nd unit team has not receive 18 minutes of playing-time per game in at least 49 of our 59 games to develop a Gellin chemistry off the bench so the majority of our starters could rest on the bench at the same time.

Our starter lineup has not got anything right on offense or defense .. And we are forever picking one or two of the players to blame each LOSS on, when none of our starters have chemistry with each other.
Whats up with the triangle-offense system being applied by our starters when only Rolo plays consistent defense throughout the game. Our starter lineup should never be our CLOSER lineup when we need DEFENSIVE-STOPS win games at crunch-time in the 4th quarter.

We are on a 2-13 run with no chance of making the playoff so all the no-bust Hype on our rookie Porzingis is BULLSH when we have consistent losses like LA n Philly by having our rookie as the team starter n closer .. Project Porzingis get just as much blame for every Knicks loss as our poor defensive guards Calderon n Afflalo, and our no-leadership Melo.
Phil Jackson stupidity of shortening the rotation to 8 or 9 players after our first 20 games of the season, when the only lineup that played well on both ends of the court were our all bench lineup .. the 2nd unit

Yea, totally agree. When we were in contention, I think Fisher started shortening the rotation and then Melo stepped on the Ref's foot and the season was lost.

I liked the very beginning of the season when we had 2 units, we had the triangle unit, then we had the spread pick and roll unit. We had good speed with Grant, Galloway, and DWill getting in transition. Then somehow we went away from that and then you'd see DNPs to these same players for no good reason.

It's like once we touched .500 we went into "Win Now" mode instead of "Develop" mode and it probably cost the team chemistry and morale in the locker room. Fisher's speech about "Process not Playoffs" was the final dagger...the team essentially quit on him at that point. He preached about long term vision, but didn't play the long term guys at all, and stuck to his favorites in Calderon and Vujacic for some dumb reason.
