I wonder if James Dolan realizes this now. Imagine if we had lost our pick this past year- and Porzingas was lighting it up for Denver as part of the Melo deal, or Toronto or wherever.

Dolan should, if he gets it, write it into the contract that no GM can trade a future first round pick under any circumstances.

and then there was eddy curry, or antonio mcdyess. Even if we just avoid those major blunders we'll be so much better off than prior GMs

Im not sure the Knicks have the assets to get much done this year. Unless Melo waives his no-trade.

I think I'd do Oladipo because he's the best talent moving forward and a good building block - though I haven't watched enough of the Magic to know why they'd give up on him so early.

I think the trade that would lead to the best team on the floor for this season would be Jennings for Calderon and a pick. It'll be really interesting to see if Phil would send a pick out the door. He hasn't done that yet.

I can't see him sending out a pick to get rid of Jose and get a guy that is a free agent at the end of the season. I do like the Oladipo deal.

The Jennings deal would be the ultimate example of a traditional Knicks win now deal. Though we've seen with all trades of impending free agents - it gives you the inside track to sign them because you can offer the best deal - biggest raises, longest terms.

I admit to being fascinated to see where Phil takes this deadline.

I sort of predict he'll stand pat.

But is he gonna flinch on including a 2018 first round pick? Chances he'll be in the building for the 2018 draft?

I think I'd be okay with including a first round pick WITH PROTECTIONS.

If that is what Oladipo is worth then I would do that deal but I would try to keep Thomas and give them a 2nd rd pick instead. Oladipo could play the point for the knicks like he does for Orlando when Payton is out.

If you have a choice between trades like that I think you always take the youngest player that do not cost you a 1st rd pick.
