+100 fishmike, excellent post.
Starks, you're like a climate change denier. Why are you arguing in this thread?
not true and not fair to say about me. Im a very happy knick fan right now
Be that as it may, as someone who was legitimately away from this forum for a few years and came back cold a few months ago and has mixed feelings about Melo, I can tell you my impression from day 1 was the Melo fixation was very, very real and impossible to escape.
Within days I could see certain screen names and know before I read their posts 80% of what their post would be about.
i get what you are saying and i think you made a very respectful post to me so i Appreciate That. I just get tired of a few posters who accuse you of being negative/hater if you bring up any small criticism of a player/coach/gm. I actually consider Myself positive and i love the knicks but i also point out stuff that may be less positive but is accurate
My issue (generally, you haven't impressed upon me an extreme lean for what that's worth) its less a matter of accuracy and more an issue of volume. One can be fixated on a true thing. Often times a true thing could be completely superfluous and/or irrelevant to the topic at hand.
that could be true. Maybe im refering to myself more instead of others because i have gotten accused of being a melo hater which aggravates me because its not true. I guess its frustration more than anything because you constantly have to defend yourself
I've been accused of the opposite. Did 5 rounds with Chuckbuck 3 weeks or so ago about whether Melo was the alpha dog of the Knicks, as opposed to KP.
The factual answer of course then and now is Melo, and for stating this fact I was assumed a Melo lover/apologist/ballwasher, etc.
neither is the alpha dog IMO. Both have helped eachother. Melo is clearly our best offensive player but KP is the better two way player right now. I dont pick sides bothe have contributed equally
well there is your opinion. Then there is KP's who calls him the "leader of the team" at every opportunity. Like when Melo hurt his ankle and KP was asked about him at halftime by Rebecca and KP said "He's the leader of the team, we need him back on the floor."
Leader = Alpha. If thats important. So Phil says he's the alpha. Fisher does. KP does. Maybe a petition might help? Funny watching you guys digitally squirm through this with deflective posts and misdirection. It really makes guys uncomfortable, like they have to admit to spying on their sisters in the shower. Yea.. its a reality, but they arent comfortable talking about it.
Anyway back to topic at hand. Melo has done things this year he hasnt in other years regarding his leadership and those things have been well documented. They also happened under Phil. Its entirely possible more of it is timing and less a direct result of Phil's culture, but it doesnt matter. The point is it is happening. I am not concerned with the pie chart documenting who gets the appropriate amounts of credit for these positive developments. Only that we have management in place that is clearly working to facilitate them. This is Melo's 6th year. The last coach who challenged him to expand his game quit after Melo quit on him. Things are very different now. Sure is nice.
Hear anything from Dolan? Might be the best part of all.
