Galloway in today's game is going to get 50-60mm over 5-6 years--10-12mm per.

He is supply and demand. He is one of the best 3 points hooters in the nBA--the supply of what he can do is limited. I mean if there is one instance that you use analytics is with a guy like Langston when you project more minutes and more touches in a faster pace line up.

He's a good player and a great bargain at his salary. The high offensive rating is partly because he's hitting 56% of his 3s, which obviously won't continue. I'm interested to see where his #s are once we have a much larger sample.

I think the concern has to be that his 3 point shooting will likely return to a more reasonable percentage, and the issue is whether he'll contribute in other areas once that happens. He's still a good rebounder and he has low turnovers. He'll still be worth his salary but I'm hoping his 3% will at least be in the low 40s rather than dropping to the 30s. It would be great if he could make his 2s at a higher percentage also. He's only at around 41% from 2 point range.

My concern was that if he stopped hitting 3s at a ridiculous rate, he wouldn't be contributing much. He still rebounds and doesn't turn the ball over but I wish he could hit 2s at a higher rate and get some more assists. He's actually shooting 37.9% on 2s this year!

I'm wondering if his shooting issues coincide with him having to be more of a facilitator again because Grant has played poorly.

Gallo is best as an off guard, and I seem to remember that he was playing better when Grant was getting more minutes. Not positive about this, though.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

Good point. Hopefully the second unit can settle into roles again like earlier in the season. Also, I think Nix made a good point about the second unit and Fisher making adjustments to have them running, playing more pnr, and not trying to play in a structured offense as much.

Now that his shooting has tailed off a bit we're seeing the limitations in Gallo's game. He's had a handful of games now where even his defense looks weak. He's getting picked off too easily, not fighting through screens. But hell, that can happen from time to time. What is striking lately is his inability to orchestrate. He cannot make an entry pass to an open man on time vs. decent or better defense. His passes when running the triangle, especially when out top, are rigid and predictable. I am reminded of how he looked in summer league when he couldn't get the ball to a wide open KP on multiple occasions. I repeat Gallo is not PG material, can only do spot duty orchestrating. He needs to be a catch and shoot in rhythm guy, where he's at his best, or sneaking through openings toward the basket, again when receiving the ball off a pick in rhythm. Playing or creating from a standstill Gallo looks bad.

He is what he is. An undrafted backup player. No way near a star. A career backup.

Any GM that would give Galloway 60 mill over 5 years would get blacklisted for life.

Gotta hand it to BRIGGS though, he takes some shots!

I might be in the minority, but I like Galloway back as a bench/reserve in the $2.5 Million range. He is inconsistent on Offense but plays a solid D (good-very good on the perimeter) and is still young/inexperienced so might have more upside. Given the cap increase - one year art $2.5 with a team option in Year 2.

If the Knicks had viable options starting at the 1 & 2 - Galloway would be thought of more highly as part of the second unit by Knicks fans.

Im trying to figure out who was responsible for his steady decline, the coach, the system, or his own self

All the above. He reverted back to his normal self after hitting like 50-60% of 3s in the first quarter of the season, instability at the coaching position, and the system made him overthink things rather than react.

If the Knicks can pick up Seth Curry and dump Galloway it would be a nice upgrade.
