He's got really nice passing skills, when he actually does pass. Any time he's not fed the ball in a post up situation there's a really good chance he'll make a pass to someone slashing to the basket, if that kind of play is executed. He did it a bunch of times in pre-season. He does kind of become a black hole when he's fed the ball down in the deep post, but I'm okay with that as long as he makes enough of those shots or at least draws fouls. Hopefully he just won't be too stubborn to kick it out to someone getting into an open position for an outside shot if the situation presents itself. It'd be nice to have Seraphin and O'Q battling for minutes. That should inspire them to try and give their best performance on a game to game basis. I know that consistency in rotation is important, but doing it this way could work to, at least while it's still pretty early in the season and we're winning a decent amount of games.
True, I think saraphin's passing ability has been overlooked his whole career he has always been able to pass out of the post... But I really would like to see O'quinn at his natural position the 4 and he really has a nice mid range jumper that's why I think saraphin and O'quinn could work really well together. Getting O'quinn comfortable in the mid range is important he can pass or hit the open jumper like Oakley used to do and crash the boards when the shot goes up.. Again I think a second unit of saraphin,O'quinn, dwill,Gallo, grant is putting the most talent out on the floor for the second unit.. Not that I don't appreciate LT and Lou's hustle and defense, because of there lack of talent they can be easily over matched on a nightly basis... Also dwill needs more minutes to get into his scoring rhythm.
The one thing about KOQ at the 4 is that he is very slow to rotate out to the perimeter. Slow feet on recovery too.
That would be my worry as well, but I still think it's worth a look... KOQ seems to have lost his mojo but maybe he's not being used correctly... Or he's just outta shape and needs to hit the gym
He also struggle badly guarding the post. Seraphin is MUCH better than him at this.
He is also a terrible passer when he is doubled and usually loses the ball or forces a horrible shot.
so here is what phil is thinking ....
