Play the best player for the job, no favoritism bullshyt.

Easy to say when you're not the one in the locker room coaching multi-millionaires, their egos and have to keep the team together and behind you.

Fisher does not have the juice at this point in his career to do that, and you have to even then think -- if he said, eff it I'm benching Jose next game -- about the possible impact that would have on the team. "Could I be benched next after a few bad games?" "Not sure if I can trust this guy." etc. etc.

It's also a bit of an insult to Jackson who traded for him to bench Jose after 5 games without Afflalo who you signed to play with him, most likely.

No one is going to deny Jose is playing horribly, nor am I of the belief that he will get better, but it's not that simple, nor is it necessarily about "favoritism."

It's called being a manager in most jobs or a coach in others.

Yes, it's not normal work. He has a guaranteed contract.

Yet, there are other similar types of situations you can face as a manager like the person who is poorly performing is a favorite of someone with a lot of clout, etc. I've experienced that directly. He had to do enough bad things for them to see the light, and it was very frustrating.

I don't think Fisher is blind. He just knows that he has to work with what he has and he can't suddenly drop Jose 5 games in, especially since Afflalo hasn't even played. Hard to think of other coaches who would do the same thing. Especially when we are not playing THAT badly overall compared to last season.

The season is long and I suspect Jose has a good chance of going to the bench. We will just have to stomach it as Fisher does too.

Hate the guaranteed part in NBA contracts. In Football, he'd be out the door already, without even a thank you and a handshake.

$15million guaranteed left for less than bench player production. Puke inducing.

the message being accountability?

Look at football.

Jose is getting paid. Period.

Why can't Gallo play 30 minutes and Grant 18?

What's worse, getting shafted because your PG is 800 years old or hurt because your rookie is inexperienced?

One should correct itself over time, the other will get worse.

If Fisher feels that Jose is hurting the team's chances of winning, you have to make a change at some point.

Jackson is not a fool...he's watching the games and knows what is going on with his players.

A problem, as others here have mentioned, is that Jose's D puts out big men in situations where they might pick up fouls trying to cover for his weak perimeter D.

So lets see...he's mot doing much on offense, he can't guard anyone, and he's putting our interior D in jeopardy.

Has to be on a short rope at this point. I said give him 5, and evaluate his status. 5 games in...anyone happy with him? So now you give him another 5, perhaps allowing him to help put us in a deeper hole.

At what point do you replace him??!!

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

Exactly. 2-3 could end up being 2-8 quickly.

Realistic goal, if the right players are played...4 or 5 games below .500 for this death schedule of November.

If we end 10-12 or more games below .500, it might be insurmountable to go after the 8th seed and we face the possibility of giving Toronto a lottery pick.

We gotta be better than the Gap...

There are other similar types of situations you can face as a manager like the person who is poorly performing is a favorite of someone with a lot of clout, etc.

NBA players got to put food on their families.

$15million is alot of money to put food on families

mmmmmmmmm

so here is what phil is thinking ....
