Marc Gasol is in Spain. Why no criticism of him? Wheres Blake Griffin and Chris Paul? Where's D Rose? Harden? D Howard! Kobe is exempt because he has rings? Last I checked, Lakers had one of the worse seasons in their history, similar to the Knicks. Why isn't he building team chemistry with Russell and Randle? The idea that Melo is being criticized for not being at summer league is a joke and as Fishmike phrased it, "a witch hunt"

"Summer League! We talkin' bout Summer League! Not the Regular Season, But Summer League!!!!!!"

Not sure you want to associate Anthony with AI, IMO.

Not sure any of the players you mentioned made critical comments about their team's draft and FA signings.

Griffin was perhaps the guy who convinced Jordan to return, and was involved in this affair.

LeBron was the GM for the Cavs, not sure what else he could do for the team.

Same question:

Forget about whether Anthony "should" or "should not" have attended...

Assuming that he had the time...

Would it have been better for the team's chemistry if he had shown up? Yes or No?

When the Knick are playing in the third week of January, on the 4th leg of a 5 game road trip, it's not going to matter one iota whether or not Melo attended a summer league game in July..

You are making these kids look like the whinny kid whose life changed at age 10 because dad was late for his soccer game..If these kids need Melo in the stands at a summer league scrimmage then we have bigger problems than Melo needing to show up at a summer league scrimmage...

Are we now drafting kids that needs summer time coddling?

Melo should be there for himself to better himself as a man, and for team unity as a galvanizing influence in the wake of the worst season ever.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Watching melo play his brand of basketball does indeed have that effect....

Some of the posters on this board have no clue about leadership. For them, it is not a needed ingredient; dudes just need to jump high and shoot the ball
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

No, it's that we all know Melo isn't a strong leader, so it's boring when people post that he isn't a good leader. That doesn't make him trash. Sure I'd love for him to mature and become a leader, but it ain't happening. We need that leadership to come from elsewhere, which is what we have addressed this offseason. It happens- Ewing wasn't a great leader, Shaq wasn't a great leader, Dwight isn't a good leader, Harden isn't a good reason (hey- was he even at Vegas?!)

Ewing left it out on the floor. Took us to within a Starks shooting performance of a NBA Championship. Shaq proved it with his league and Finals MVP's as well as All NBA and All Defense selections.

Melo hasn't sniffed one All NBA 1st team, one All NBA Defensive team, nor made it to 1 NBA Final. Highest was 3rd place in NBA MVP voting in 2012-2013, not exactly scintillating when it was a clear 2 man race from game 1 through game 82 for Lebron and Durant.

Poor comparison.

Lebron could find time to go to SL, but not Carmelo???
