If he doesn't play he's got a reasonable injury in his hip regardless of any report.terrible way to start not even worth watching to be honest. Next it will be he might be avail by Christmas

That's a pretty dark prediction coming from you Briggs. Definitely out of left field.

Here's an idea... let him be fast long and athletic. Dude is a 7'3 deer. He runs and jumps like Raja Bell or a small out there, then you see he's taller than everyone else.

Just get him on the floor so he can score, learn the system, learn the league, don't get hurt... that's year 1.

Agreed, he still has the potential to continue to grow as well
His strength is his combination of LENGTH, BB IQ, mobility/quickness, athleticism, height at 7-3, versatility, he does need to get stronger but he isn't going to be Shaq or Pekovic
He needs to get stronger but not at the cost of his physical abilities that he already has but do work outs with his body weight/with more reps/sets, there are so many different ways to get stronger as sports science continues to develop, we need to get the proper trainers for him, with Anthony Davis, KG, Kevin Durant, and players of that sort

There are trainers for WORK OUTS in the gym and trainers to work on the court, with many different types work outs today than in the past, to work on the mind/ability to focus and think/ while reading/reacting the DEFENSE, I hope we spend the money on nutritionists, physical therapy/MEDICAL STAFF UPGRADES/acupuncturist and herbalists as NYK's medical staff has been horrible
Not only for KP but for ALL of our young guys, it is about time that we spent money to upgraded our development staff/trainers etc, with Phil Jackson rebuilding through youth/development
Where as in the past, we would BUY our way for talent but forget that we need trainers/development staff work with these guys and protect their health/preventive injuries moving forward

Translation: It was a tough decision, but I believe that in the future it will benefit both me and the Latvian basketball!

Hip injury can't be that severe if he's still working out.

240-255lbs I think should be the ideal weight for KP. You want him to keep his mobility and athleticism. It's when a player bulks up to much is athleticism goes down from movement to jumping ability.

Forget about Dirk.....I just want KP to have a game like Rick Smit, who played both ends and provided rim protection. Phil had a front row seat to Rick Smits 13pt and 8 blks. No wonder he drafted KP.

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Queens, Lives in Maryland. The future is bright, I'm a Knicks fan for life!

Yup...

I'll go with 250. You want to maintain your flexibility, quickness and explosiveness, and at some point the added weight and gravity can slow you down.

Hopefully he is doing things the correct way. If the added weight is muscle, he should be fine.

As an example, look at the progression for Monroe from college, to first year NBA, to now. I think averaged about 245 in college, and they were saying he's about 260 now, although I wonder if he might be a bit heavier.

I know he had been hurt, but he looked pretty slow at the end of the year when we saw him. Also looks like he bulked up a bit. Was more lanky in college. Could this have hurt his quickness? There were some college highlights of him running the floor and looking pretty quick.

I'd look at Ajinca and how he bulked up. Hopefully kristaps will progress faster but Ajinca weighed 209 lbs at the combine if my memory is correct and now he is much bigger while still mobile.

I think the Knicks need to give him the Towns/Calipari/UK treatment.. Develop his body, low post game, and defense.

The key is not to add too much bulk each season- otherwise as well as coordination issues, he'd be at risk of the dreaded plantar fasciitis.
