They give up a decent defensive center who will go well with Towns, a SF who made nice progress, and Lavine, who is the wild card.

If you think Lavine can be a PG, I'm not sure you would let him go.

You'd probably shop Rubio around.

You add Towns to this group and maybe a steal at 31, and you have the makings of a good team.

If they make the trade, Minny probably takes Winslow, Mudiay, or maybe Porzingis, but aren't they setting themselves back a bit?

For the guys who just say no about this trade, it is really not bad for the Knicks. We can move Anthony to 4 and he'll be protected by a good defender, who improved his game this year. You have small forward who also improved his game and is only 22, and then you have Lavine, who has some potential, despite being inconsistent.

Hamilton is a big body, and the 2 second round picks are pretty low- you would get at least one nice player, I would bet.

Don't think Minny would do it, but it would be quite a blockbuster on draft night.

We wouldn't have to move Melo to the 4 because after making that trade and bringing in Lavine and Dieng to start then you're forgetting that we still have 30 million to spend. So we have Melo, Lavine and Dieng as starters and 30 million for two more starters and then some bench help.

This is true,

It would diminish our cap though...no?

Also noticed Saunders also came back to Minny in 2013, before that draft. He picked up Dieng and Muhammed in a trade, and then Lavine, in the following draft.

Have to say that he might not want to give those guys up at this point, even if he likes Porzingis.

OMG these replies are ludicrous.

I highly doubt we will see WCS putting up 10-8 2-2 anyitme soon and thats just Dieng
Then you are talking potential NBA superstar guard in the making in Lavine
NBA 6th man of the year potential in Muhammed
and an under rated under the radar C who would be GREAT for the triangle in Hamilton and then you have two picks which could end up being Mickey and Fuzaro which either could also be better than anyone picked at 4?!?!

Ive followed the beat writer for Minnesota--Flip dishes him and he LOVES Porzingis loves him. If we could hit them up like this we could change our team.

Actually I think WCS could actually put up better than 10-8 and he could match 2-2. Let's not get into hyperbole to try and make a point.

I still don't understand why Minny would make such a deal. It seems like a huge gamble for the #4 pick. Why wouldn't they just keep their collection of talent rather than send it out for basically one prospect?

The beat writer for the Wolves has been talking about Porzingis for 2 months. he has broken news before its happened a few times. He thinks Flip believes Kristaps is KG #2.

Minny taking Porzingis throws Russell or OK4 into the mix with Mudiay at #4, though, unless LA stuns and takes Russell, which means Philly decides our fate.

A lot depends on how good Saunders thinks Dieng is, since he would be the protection for Porzingis as he matures.

Briggs, this would be the one scenario where we could actually choose from Towns or OK4.

Stranger things have happened, I suppose.

Porzingis worked out at some park in Brooklyn, the other day and heads to Las Vegas for the kind of workout we've seen from Towns and others. Not sure he is doing private workouts.

I dont see any scenario where either of the bigs fall.

This is from 6 weeks ago.

Flip Saunders made his way to Europe to do some scouting, particularly to see Sevilla forward Kristaps Porzingis, who is projected as a lottery pick. Scuttlebutt has it that Flip thinks very highly of Porzingis, and depending on how the lottery plays out, may consider him for the Wolves as high as pick #3. It isn't exactly clear what qualifies Porzingis as a high lottery pick, but...well, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it, I guess.

Wouldn't one of them have to fall if Porzingis is in the mix before us?

Towns
OK4
Russell

You add Porzingis to this group and you get at least one of them.

That's exactly what i'll be hoping for is for someone besides one of those three to get picked 1,2 or 3. The two with the best chance are Porzingis and Mudiay bit if WCS can really impress in some workouts by showing more offense then you never know but more likely it would be one of Porzingis/Mudiay.

Well Briggs - I see that approximately 100% of the posters didn't like your trade so that means it's probably a decent one for the Knicks.

Have to be honest - I think it's a really good effort.

Me personally -- I might prefer Rubio be inserted somewhere for someone but I was a big fan of Z-Lavine last draft and I don't think it's too far fetched to think he could turn out better than one of the guards who might be sitting there at #4.

Muhammed playing the 2 next to Melo at the 3 -- not sure I like that combo in terms of D and quickness but Dieng would be a nice add and the picks could potentially net a sleeper.

Not bad -- really comes down to whether or not people think Lavine will become a legit player.

All the guys we would be getting were picked up by Saunders in one way or another, and Lavine must have been someone he really liked, because some thought he was a reach.

Seems like Rubio, not Lavine would more likely be the guy he trades, assuming he thinks Lsvine is the real deal, because he had nothing to do with the Rubio pick.

I never said Minny would make the trade. I think people are forgetting that this is just Briggs making up a trade suggestion on a message board and then us fans making posts saying if we'd do it or not but some people freak out like this is Phil and Flip actually talking. LOL So to be clear i don't think Flip would do that deal but in our fantasy world here if i was Phil Jackson and that deal was on the table i would do it.

This trade i would also do but we'll leave the pick at #7 cause i'm not sure i would be picking Kaminsky with the 7th pick. I wouldn't just dismiss Kaminsky at #7 but it would depend on who's still left at #7 for me.

Take that deal and make up an alibi. You will not get that much talent in any other oppprtunity.

Seems like a lot of Knick fans would not do it--so Im not sure about rape. Pick #4 we have top ask for a lot.

I could leave the 35 pick(but I would ask for it first and stay with it a bit) on the table for them to replenish a bit but Lavine Dieng Muhammed and pick 31 is the minimum.

It gives us

A--starting C

B--6-5 staring CG to go along with Schveyd(who I am super high on)

C a 6th man of the year type in Muhammed

Pick 31 a good pick

Also I have not changed our cap--with cutt8ing Calderon we still have 31mm to spend.

Pick 31 Id go Mickey if hes there then Fuzaro. Id also be willing to trade Hardaway to get BOTH Mickey and Fuzaro with pick 31. I think Mickey is vastly under rated. Listening to Austin Ainge talking about Mickey today saying that most of the great defenders in the NBA over the last 25 years were his size but Mickey also has an offensive game at 20 years old.

I think NBA players like Lavine a lot. They know their own guys--he's already made a nice name for himself. This "could" help us in free agency.

I would be wary of any rumors or comments you hear from the media at this time. There's too much doubletalk and smokescreens out there.
That being said, I don't see Minnesota making that deal. They're better off taking their choice at #1 and adding to their talent base.
Somehow, I'm still having a hard time envisioning the T-Wolves as a championship type team. Down the road, something is bound to happen.

It is a lot of assets in return, depending on what you are able to do with the rest of the money, while most of those players are on rookie contracts
If you can sign 2 TOP TIER players in 2017 and the team develops chemistry it could work
Though I do not think Lavine will be a PG, he lacks the speed/quickness, and has a scorers mentality
It is hard to predict what player Lavine will be, especially his impact on DEFENSE and on what positions
Lavine is such an X factor that has to fill out and be either a PG, SG, or COMBO Guard, *his highlights look great with some great shooting on NO DEFENSE TEAMS* but I think Jordan Clarkson's quickness/physical abilities are better than Lavine, at least right now...

It isn't a realistic trade for Twovles though
But what is suprising is the reaction of majority of the thoughts here

Twolves would be keeping the more "injury" prone older players with their TOP 2 talents

I fear Winslow will get the Iman treatment, meaning he simply cannot change our DEFENSE/CULTURE by himself, he needs other players with him to play with that tenacity/HIGH IQ/and provide leadership while creating/faciliting like Lebron, allowing him to focus more on DEFENSE with other DEFENSIVE PLAYERS and REBOUNDERS

I have always like Iman, while many DOGGED him here, calling him "CHUMP" and D League Garbage, including Briggs
While Iman was always my 2nd pick after Vucevic that Briggs convinced 90% of this board on

Briggs since then, it seems like you are looking to out do urself with such projections instead of actual just analyzing talent but trying to get "glory"

At some point, quantity does matter. This is why, against NBA Draft History, teams don't typically trade volume for lottery picks. Minnesota can't move that many assets and still have a functional team left over, hence the trade is not going to happen.

The problem Briggs is you want very specific players, a number of them and the Knicks only have one asset in play here and you want to try to split that asset in any way possible to get the players you want. Except just about all variations of your trades aren't possible in a single deal. You'd likely need 4-5 smaller dealers in place, needing probably 100-150 different variables to line up correctly across multiple teams to pull it off. Also you refuse to accept that the rookies you like will operate at less than a historic/Hall Of Fame level of production, with no drop off and no learning curve at all.

You've heard all this before, and you just don't care.

No team will gut itself to pick up a single pick or player ( OK the Knicks might be the last sad example of it)

There are specific players you like Briggs, odds are the Knicks will only get one of them, maybe, and likely none of them given the situation.

3 player for 1 player trades happen year in and year out. The ONLY compensation that the Knicks should even consider is premium. If Flip Saunders really think Kristaps is KG 2.0 then Im sure hed be willing to give what amounts to 1 starter and 2 non starters for his right s.

People not wanting to do that trade want the nostalgia of a homegrown talent and are not evaluating talent. I love the idea of drafting Justise Winslow, but you have 6 roster spots with one 4 draft pick. Even 31 and 35 have value...to us. And the 31 pick could outperform the 4 in this draft. You want Mudiay...Lavine fills that role and hedge losses. Overwhelmingly in favor of the Knicks.

Follow up with a trade of Melo and finish the rebuild. You get the 2 from the Lakers and we are good.

Who says Mudiay is going to be better than Delon Wright Camerone Paine Grant anytime soon OR at all? If it was "me" Id take Okafor at 4 if he slips. No matter what anyone says Im not leaving a 6-11 260 pound C who just averaged near 20-10 shooting 67% as a freshmen on the board for a role playing C with focus problems coming to NYC---Ill take the guy from Duke. Also I wish I could let people listen to Austin Ainge talk about defense yesterday. He made a great point. Most of the great defenders of the last 20 years were roughly 6-7 or under Dennis Rodman Ben Wallace Scottie Pippen Dray Green Chauncey Billups Tony Allen etc... the 4th pick is going to cost the Knicks 3.5mm. If I could trade back and get a young player and two picks I might spend the same on 3 players that I am for one. Why cant Jordan Mickey be on good as defense or BETTER than WCS? I mean did anyone watch the Chicago combines or LSU? I think Mickey is more mobile and way better on offense/rebounding yet seems to help guard the rim just as well or better than Stein. and even if hes just behind him the cumulative parts I get on a trade out should amount to MUCH more considering the state of the Knicks roster.

3 guys I would trade from 4 Karl Towns(Id trade up for him) Jahill Okafor D Russell(and Russell barely makes it I waver on him a bit)--anyone else Winslow WCS Mudiay--Im not sold on for one pick--that would be option G in my book. And this is from a guy who preaches the draft for the last 15 years. In this case I think the value for the team is moving down IF something makes sense OR doing whatever it takes to move up to #1. That would be my number 1 strategy right now--giving Minnesota great deal for Towns. If that means trading Anythony pick 4 and a future 1 so be it.

My only doubt is the Adam Morrison argument -- skilled player that rocks it in college but doesn't have the athleticism to keep it going in the NBA... that said, his combine numbers (vertical, wingspan) are pushing me past any possible doubt. 6'5 lefty with a 6'10 wingspan and a 39" max vertical, high basketball IQ, passing ability and good shooting percentages? Philly press is starting to call him Evan Turner 2.0. He may fall.

You know I gonna spin wit it

Were talking pick 4 here folks--If Flip wanted to guarantee he got POrzingis its pick #4

Line up before free agency

C--Dieng

PF open

SF Anthony

SG Lavine

PG Schveyd

6th man Muhammed

SG Hardaway

PG Galloway

Pick 31 Id go Mickey if hes there then Fuzaro. Id also be willing to trade Hardaway to get BOTH Mickey and Fuzaro with pick 31. I think Mickey is vastly under rated. Listening to Austin Ainge talking about Mickey today saying that most of the great defenders in the NBA over the last 25 years were his size but Mickey also has an offensive game at 20 years old.

I think NBA players like Lavine a lot. They know their own guys--he's already made a nice name for himself. This "could" help us in free agency.

A few other points.

If Minnesota would do it--and lets think this out for one second--they would not need Dieng if they had Towns Kristaps Pervoic KG Payne Hamilton

That would give us 3 rotational players
who all have been 1st round picks in the last two years
and two what I would call highly valuable high 2's

How much is the 4th pick in a draft worth? Were NOT getting a star here--were getting 3 rotational players and 2 second round draft picks--IMHO FAIR compensation. If you feel you are getting KG 2 then why wouldnt you pay up? They are still stacked all over the place. For us the CUMULATIVE take would be ENORMOUS it would really give us 6 draft picks in the last two years for one top tier 1 and we give up Cleananthony.

RIP Crushalot😞
Would you do this trade if youre the KNicks
