the wolves have early '00 clippers(odom, miles, qrich, olawakandi, maggette) vibe about them... alot of players who look better than they actually are.... towns will get them to .500 very soon but after that... they're going to have to make some wise trades....

hopefully towns jump ships...

I think having a stabilizing guy like KG and perhaps a couple of other vet moves will be made there. I like their players. They are well above that Clipper team.

BRIGGS wrote:Not saying he wasnt a great player even before watching this--but this video shows the unbelievable potential this guy has(should I even use the word potential here?). He looks like a more athletic 260 pound Kevin Durant who has the same potential from the perimeter as he does in the post. I cant imagine him not going #1. Look at his 3 point shooting quick quick release and smooth as it gets. His handle for his enormous physical size is off the charts. This guy will be the best player since Lebron. If he is aggressive he should be a superstar from day 1. We made a generational mistake not losing out. I thought Okafor and Towns were kind of neck and neck--I ve kind of leaned towards ok4 most of the year. Now I think the gap between Karl Towns and 2 is obvious and Karl Towns is the franchise player of this draft and everyone else has a much lesser player. Karl Towns will not have a player who can check him.

Our #1 scout and you just now realizing that KAT was not allowed to show his full set of skills at UK?

i'm sorry.. lavine got a long way to go... so does wiggins... wiggins looks better and anything is possible with him but his rookie year wasn't all that impressive... dieng is the most impressive out of the bunch but might crimp on towns with spacing... i have absolutely zero confidence that flip can develop these guys and actually be a good team....

Odom- Wiggins
Qrich- Lavine
miles- Rubio
Olaw-Bennett
Magg- Muhammad

I guess I see where you going but Dieng is an underrated guy and if Shabazz grows who knows. I do know the trade of Dieng and Shabazz for Burke was a good deal by flip. They also acquired Adrien Payne from ATL but a quick trade like that sends up major red flags.

I think they wanted a mobile 4--they didnt know they were getting a transcending player 6 months alter at the same position. Oh well Payne can be a back up--thats all he was going to be anyway.

Ok4 should be great but this guy is off the charts. He might end up being the best big man anyone has watched. I dont know if he can even be comped.

I am incredibly impressed. I dont think 1 should be a conversation.

I told you. In fact, even WCShad a better game then you have seen thus far. He has a better offensive game then what we've seen

WCS doesnt have an offensive game yet. He doesnt know what to do with the ball and has no go to moves. That why he scores mostly on put backs.

Still putting your foot in your mouth.....weve had lengthy discussions why towns is better than ok4.....and you disagreed. ...now you are saying Stein has no offensive game....lmao.....but as soon as a video comes out showing stein hitting shots.....you will be back on stein just like towns.

Stein and Davis are the only players in the league who can guard him......but you will disagree as expected until a KU practice video goes viral. And b4 towns video you probably thought kaminsky can guard him.....

I do appreciate u sticking yourself out there on those predictions.....at least be consistent or admit you were wrong.....about towns.

So how is Briggs putting his foot in his mouth? Based on...?

It continues to amaze me that folks are talking about guys who have not played a second in the NBA like they've been in the league for 10 years and have won titles and been selected to All-Star games.

It continues to amaze me that people can watch a workout video and, from that video alone, extrapolate that the player in that video will do all the things they see in the video at levels of success they never had in the games they played in.

Forget about any games that have already been played, or the fact that basketball is played on a court 5 on 5, with people in your face- not one on none, and that the pressure you face in a game has a habit affecting what you can do on a court.

Might be good to sit back, watch all the videos you can see, listen for info you can trust from the sources you trust, and then...maybe...you can speak with a degree of certitude about who the best picks are.

Of course waiting for a few years to see how things work out with the guys you are in love with now might also help, but that could be asking too much- calls for a degree of patience not often visible in a world of instant gratification. Opinions have some degree of equality, in that each of us can have one, but time reveals the truth, and the proud holder of this or that opinion today, might be seen as a fool 5 years from now.

The guys get paid to do this kind of thing- guys who know and see a lot more than we do- screw up on a regular basis, costing their teams millions of dollars, and chances to be successful.

So maybe folks should stand back and wait before deifying this or that player, seemingly in an attempt to end discussions and comparisons, which is what it sounds like some of your are doing.

I dont care that Towns hasnt played one game in the NBA--thats simply a matter of time. Its like saying well we see Lebron in high school tapes hes going to be good. If you can walk away from this video watching a 7-0 260 pound man man dribble the ball like a guard with a quick crisp smooth jumpshot (and we thought Kaminsky's jumpshot was effortless--notice Towns barely moves his body its a simple flick of his wrist like he shooting FT from 3 ball land You can see the power and athletiscm package clear as day--which NBA guy is going to stop him? Too big too strong too athletic too skilled. No one like him. Superstar

Now you understand why I have been touting him for months as the next Dream. He's the closest thing to a sweet-shooting Olajuwon I have seen. He's incredible, and should have been a Knick. FUCK!

we never had a better than a 25% shot at him. All the assuming was silly

Right, but now that it's after-the-fact, we know we WOULD have had him. Thus my consternation.

We really really don't know that.

Yes, we do. Had we not won those two games we would've had the worst record and this season the team with the worst record won the lottery. Doesn't matter which team it was. The team itself has no bearing on the odds of the outcome.

Or, are you saying that since we are the Knicks and we always get screwed that had we ended up with the worst record there would've been a fork in the space time continuum and the balls would've bounced a separate way moving us down in the draft?

Couple things to consider: WCS hits threes in that video too.

Anyone remember Yi Jianlan vs the chair? Or those grainy videos of Dark looking like a 7 foot tall Grant Hill? That being said I don't think Towns will be a bust. But these workout videos can be deceptive and not truly indicative of anything.

Does Towns really have the potential to be better than Anthony Davis? Perhaps Davis vs Towns is the next generational match up in the NBA. Maybe the Knicks should try with all their might to poach Davis then?

How exactly is the lottery done? If we had lost those last 2 games, would we have had all of Minn ping pong balls and they would have had all of ours, meaning that we would have definitely gotten the #1 pick and they would have gotten #4?

It doesnt matter what we did.....its up to the lottery machine. We ended up as the second worst team...that was the best position to get the 1st pick...based on history. So we put ourselves in the best position to get 1 or 2.....but like everthing the knicks touch since Dolan took over....nothing goes in our favor.....knick fans should be used to this already.

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Queens, Lives in Maryland. The future is bright, I'm a Knicks fan for life!

I'm always skeptical of videos that are just guys shooting in an empty gym. Heck, I can do that and make all my shots.

But the mobility and explosion Towns showed in that video... he just has that larger than life superstar feeling about him.

I think he's going to be behind Anthony Davis for the next 3 years or so... but he'll catch up and their primes should overlap for a good 5-7 years and that should be a lot of fun.

I agree with WaltLongmire's last post. Townes potential is off the charts - I saw him in a high school state tournament. However, the reality is that only time will tell whether he will successfully navigate as a pro - on and off the court.

What position will Towns play?

I wish he had shown us some more footwork and moves in the post. Showed some- two hooks and a fall back turnaround, but almost seemed to be auditioning as a stretch 4. Only 1 midrange shot was taken.

I saw some promising post up stuff in the Wisconsin game, including some turn arounds and a hook, I think, which sold me on him as the #1 pick. You can make a case that Calipari underused him- probably should have gotten him about 20 shots that game- let Towns play some hero ball.

Not sure he has the lateral movement on D to be like Anthony Davis, but that could come with time. If you want to play as a stretch 4, you also have to defend against them. Will that be an issue? The quick feet you show on offense don't always show up on D.

I think he's best suited as a center. Has a very short neck which gives you the impression he is shorter than he really is, but he has the wingspan of a much bigger man.

Has a good group of young guys to grow with at Minnesota, but you know that inside he's disappointed that the Knicks or LA did not get the top pick.

I've also been really impressed with the interviews I've been hearing and the voiceovers on the workout vids. This might actually be a special draft in terms of personality and intelligence, which is good for the NBA. Most of the kids I've heard seem to be able to look at their games objectively and it sounds like they've been listening to their coaches and trainers. Hope they don't change as they age.

Towns would have been a great fit on the floor and in the locker room- pity that we will have to watch him from a distance.

Did you actually see a machine spitting the numbers out? I believe we got screwed by the commissioner. Because, Phil decided to challenge him when he first took over.

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)
