Totally different. Ariza had yet to get a big contract from the Knicks. He was still on his rookie deal. Now teams bid for Ariza's extremely valuable services.

Ariza would be the best player on these Knicks by the way

The problem is the following:

A) The Knicks have been overpaying to get players
B) These players disappoint in the toxic environment the owner and GMs created
C) The owner and GMs then sell low
D) More knowledgeable owners and GMs then create better environments for their players

The same people complaining about selling low are obviously also upset our team created an environment where the only options were sell low or continue to drive down the player's value since our owners/GMs have never created a better environment for players.

It's like:
A) Pay $1000 for a piece of jewelry worth $100
B) destroy the jewelry
C) sell it for $10
D) see it be repaired into a piece of nice jewelry by someone who actually knows what they're doing

There is no hypocrisy in complaining about points C and D. You won't appreciate why C and D happened without looking at A and B too though.

But when you look at what Phil got for the other three starters and Sixth Man of the Year when he blew up this team... it's mindbogglingly awful. He didn't get a player remotely approaching a starter, he didn't get a first round pick, he didn't get a rotation player. It is one of the most astoundingly terrible GM performances I've ever seen. All the players who left except Felton went on to play major minutes for contenders in the playoffs. He traded 5 very serviceable and good players for absolutely nothing.

The amazing thing is people keep preaching more time and patience and give Phil a chance. He's had 18 months and been absolutely horrendous. I am deeply scared of this draft. There's a potential Phil will pass on ten years of an all-star to prove his Triangle is right. Anyway. We'll see, I guess.

Amen,

people keep waiting for phil to hit that grand slam, and there going to be very disappointed when he hits a single.
