+1. Given how much everything he did backfired in the first year, almost no one will give him the benefit of the doubt when interpreting his words. Now would be a good time just to be quiet.

knicks1248 wrote:I think phil tweets to get a reaction, because IF GS and ATL meet in the finals, you know how stupid he would sound.

He sounds stupid anyway. Virtually every team left in the playoffs has an offense that relies on 3-pointers. And the last several Finals saw teams that take and hit a lot of 3s playing for the title: Dallas, OKC, SAS, and Miami.

Those teams you mentioned shoot the three but they don't rely on it...I think some are taking Phil Jax a little to literal...

GS Cavs and Hawks take almost 30 threes a game. Chi is at 27, Wizards at 25. Only the Grizzlies dont. Phil sounds dumb as hell, he isnt the coach, he needs to close his mouth, shut down his twitter and watch the games.

You are looking at playoff numbers..Rockets took close to 33 per during the regular season..In recent years, Teams winning Championships wasn't reliant on the three...Miami, SAS, Dallas shot 22/23 per...I think you have to have an inside game as well..Doesn't mean GS won't win..But you can see how they are vulnerable..Phil is far from dumb..He does need to step away from the keyboard tho..

Of course I'm looking at playoff numbers as I should, isnt the playoffs going on? Last year SA was in the top 10, Miami was in the top 5 in threes attempted, the previous year both were in the top 10 as well with the difference between 2 and 10 being a mere 4 attempts. Just curious, what was SA, Dallas, and Miami's "inside game"?

U can't look at playoff results because it's a smaller sample and you are disproving your own point...SA was top 10 of 16 teams????????..Does that make sense???..SA was 17th in 3PA during the regular season and won a Championship..Phil might know something, what do u think???

What do you think Phil himself is watching? His tweets are based on the playoffs, not regular season Matchups. We are talking about winning TITLES. What team won a title in the regular season? You're better than this.

They're obviously all faring better than Phil's team. Is this really Phil's account? He sounds like a bitter teenager (without spell check).

you should take a look at the percentage differences between a 15 footer and the 3.

you definitely want to take a 3 before a 15 footer.

what you really want is for the 3 ball to open up the lane so that you can attack the basket.

Not only that, the 3 from the corner is closer than other 3s and is the highest payoff shot after layups.

I understand the math but I think always going for the three makes the offense predictable. Especially in May and June

I would like to see the volatility numbers for corner threes. It seems an awful lot like feast or famine.

not always.

stretch the floor, set up for a three, if they run you off then take it hard to the hole, and the world will be open.

15 footers are no better in may and june then they are in summer league.

I can understand why duncan takes them since that is the best that he can do (with his limited range) to stretch the floor, but it is best to stretch it as wide as you can.

It's border line childish, every time another team associated with either ex knick players or a certain systems is having success, he pops up on twitter with subliminal shots.

Just as a frame of reference this kind of stuff has been going on for years. The battle with everyone else over his way of doing things and others was going on back in the 90's. It comes from all sides and it's partly based on jealously IMO. Dude has won an immense amount of games and since he did it differently than everyone else he's a target. They couldn't wait for things to fail this year so they could say "I Told You So".

The way I see it, Phil is doing what he always did. He was always a bit of a jerk with his comments. He's got control of a team in the league so it's not like he's taking shots and won't have to face all these teams in the coming years. He's very much going to either show what he can do or be humbled. Just cuz he makes comments doesn't mean he's not handling his business, so I don't get the point of bashing him over that.

Phil has the fortunes of our team in his hands right now so we all should hope that he is successful this summer and beyond.

Phil is in a verbal twitter battle with himself...No one is attacking Phil...Phil isn't handling biz because of bad trades and the team record...Much of it he has admitted..This isn't the time for him to speak up about what other teams that has made the playoffs are doing...Especially when his team couldn't make the playoffs..

I hated him when we had our battles with the BULLS, and when he took over the lakers, i really could't care less. The lakers have always been my 2nd team of choice which goes back to the Magic/worthy/kareem days.

Even though I'm willing to give Fisher another shot, I would be very disappointed if he doesn't hire a more establish coach who can ateast assist him, and his not a triangle flunky.

In the NBA today, you will need multiple 3pt shooters to spread the floor for more spacing and the ability to play small ball at times
So many teams now have been influenced by Dantoni or European style of players with stretch 4's, along with using BIG SF's to play the PF, with some Centers able to hit the 3pter as well, 2 PG (or combo guards) lineups that could penetrate/faciltate/hit the wide open 3pter and have more speed/quickenss for DEFENSE like Teague/Dennis Schoedder the league has changed

What does taking what the DEFENSE gives you mean?
What is the purpose of going small to give penetration lane as an easy option with stretch 4's and SF's playing PF?
What does playing to the strength of the talent mean?
When teams go small we going to go big and let them hit the uncontested 3pt shot with 2 BIGS?
If we go small with them, we will have to be able to penetrate as a top option, as well as it could lead to a wide open 3pt shot with good ball movement/attacking the paint...

The 3pter if uncontested is a much easier shot for many than a contested long range 2, unless we have Jordan in his prime, a young KG, Anthony Davis, Cousins, Pau Gasol/LA, or talents of that caliber
It is no longer a hard shot, especially for the closer baseline 3pters

There is a semi zone allowed to be played now, along with much more athleticism/mobility/ball handlers and shooters in all positions than the old school way, in which the league is lead by majority of good PG play whether for facilitating or scoring...

GS along with many other teams, do not look to just take the 3pter shot, they do penetrate and spread the floor, with some post ups if they have the matchup with either Bogut, Green, Barnes, Klay, or Shaun Livingston, Lee *which doesn't get much minutes any more*

They are a TOP DEFENSIVE team

Instead of trolling teams that are winning, focus on what we can do to get the Knick's better?
What is the purpose of saying such things, as Curry will be a URA in the next couple of years with other 3pt shooters, if PHil Jackson tells me he will not target players that could hit the 3pter, he is FULL OF CRAP

NixLuva,
Did Dantoni just look to hit the 3pter?
Who you have always defended but right now since Phil Jackson is our President of Operations you defend him and his take?
While almost the entire league has some sort of philosophy, ususage of Dantoni's philosophy with Eureopean style of play, as it leads to layups/dunks, better spacing as an easy high % shot, or a wide open 3pter!
So take a stance and defend it, however, you cannot have it both ways...

You were one of the huge supporters of AB and many has ripped the Knicks for making such a move and those assets we could have saved/used would have been better spent in any other way period!
We could have probably used those picks to move up to get Giannnes to pair with CA and FIT with his versatility or use it for other talents as well instead of using it for an amensty target..
Maybe we could have gotton Walter Tavaras, Mike Muscula, and/or whoever, as well, instead we drafted a position that we had the most depth in and he wasn't even the HIGHEST CEILING talent either while Gobert's unitize physical abilities actually filled a need and is SUPER RARE with his size/mobility/athleticism and LENGTH

You are extremely optimistic, however, you are way over the TOP on it, defending any moves Knick's could make and say "I SEE NO REASON WHY IT COULDN'T BE BETTER"

I still like the MDA style of play and have never said it's not a valid way to play. All i've done recently is explain what Phil is trying to do and how it could and should work. I have also said that the Triangle in it's basic form is not the most efficient offense you can run. However you have to realize that it all depends on how you want to structure your team. Phil is running an offense that makes better use of 2 post bigs than a spread offense which uses a stretch 4.

Kerr is taking that MDA style to another level by mixing in different concepts from San Antonio as well as the Triangle. He also has paired that with a great defense. What Phil is looking to do with the Knicks seems to be a version of what he had with the last Lakers teams. Those teams won playing great defense against 3 point shooters.

2008-09 Opponent 3P%: .345 Lg Rank: 3
2009-10 Opponent 3P%: .328 Lg Rank: 1

I believe he intends to try and replicate that kind of perimeter and interior defense. It seems like he wants more size, length and range defensively. I can't be 100% sure but based on his comments that seems to be what he's looking to do.
