![]() This article is on the home page. Some interesting stuff including 6/7 jurors wanted Isiah to be held financially responsible.

Many times I have taken a position that when an owner drives a decision he owns it and won't throw his exec under the bus. IN fact, if the Exec takes the task and attempts to execute while making the point its not the correct course the GM gains further respect. This is I believe what happened in Washington with Grunfeld letting his owner know that a youth only rebuild can be problematic. When they bought in veteran leadership 2 years ago it marked a turnaround there. Billy King I doubt has the decision making to spend and cause tax havoc on the franchise with either the blessing of the owner, or more likely the owner is was driving the decision to starphuch and make a grab for NY market share when it entered brooklyn. Im not here to say "Billy king did a good job" but in light of Isiah's return to MSG it need be discussed that Dolan in my mind empowered Isiah with a directive that defined his tenure. What if Dolan said "Keep it in the cap and rebuild with youth"? "How ever long it takes, lets create something". Or "OMG, this place is dead and I want to renovate so keep bringing in talent that excites!!! REVENUE IS THE KEY!!!". Thus, Dolan holds himself responsible. Now, please understand I think Isiah is the scum of the earth but there has to be reason why Dolan remained loyal to him other than Dolans characteristic of being very attached to some people. I don't like Isiah anywhere near the knicks but I am suspicious that Isiah has rehabilitated himself from what I don't know and Dolan just is drawn to giving guys a second chance. Its kind of endearing really. But we talking about Isiah. For now, Phil's in charge and until he is not Im not gonna worry about it. Until isiah is no longer of this earth his resurrection was/is always possible. |

I have always thought the best move for the Nets were to do the anti-Knick thing when they moved...So many fans were dissatisfied with the constant starphuck with the Knicks..They might have been able to draw fans just on starting something new and fresh..They should have rebuilt and would have gotten lucky if they picked Liliard..I was always surprised at the way Dolan defended Isiah during that Annucha Brown scandal, he could have just settled initially without making a big splash of it..Then when NBA TV hired Isiah, I thought there might be more to the story than we know..My thinking is why would the NBA allow Isiah near their brand given the sensitivities of the day when it comes to women issues in the workplaces and particularly sexual harassment...Maybe I'm over thinking this.. |

Isiah running the Liberty is a stepdown. HolFrsh, I think the typical NY fans wants it starphuch and is not inclinded to be excited about a rebuild or yooth movement. Look at us, are we typical? How many of us buy tickets or support the team beyond cable? Nets biggest mistake was putting the franchise in the hands of Deron Williams. If one themselves back when they made that trade he was a top 5 PG in the league and while a dyck (not the only one), he had the talent. Bottom line is the window was opened but opportunity instead flew out. Nets have a tough summer ahead. Its evident this core group is not going to elevate. Joe Johnson seemingly is aging out. Somehow Joe Johnson ends up in Dallas. Just seems like the thing that happens! |

Isiah Thomas is nestled once again in the warm, welcoming nest of James Dolan's Madison Square Garden, this time as president of the WNBA's New York Liberty. Hiring Thomas -- found by a federal court in 2007 to have intentionally discriminated against former MSG executive Anucha Browne Sanders because she was female -- to run a women's professional basketball team owned by the same company (or any company) is the height of tone-deaf hypocrisy. Thomas made the media rounds Wednesday, spreading the false gospel that he wasn't found responsible in the infamous sexual harassment case against MSG (he was) and that he didn't trade draft picks that turned into, among others, LaMarcus Aldridge, Joakim Noah and Gordon Hayward for Eddy Curry (he did exactly that). Meanwhile, Phil Jackson is laughing all the way to the bank with his $60 million guaranteed contract, which is the kind of money that Thomas used to throw at guys who couldn't play as well as Jackson could now at age 69. Fun times, as usual, at MSG. ¿ △ ?
