The bottom line is this--we are NOT getting an NBA star for free agency. Pick 14 and 16 could yield stars. Can you imagine having picks 2 14 and 16? Id give back 2nd rounders and 1.5 mm in cash to each team to beat out Philly to do it.

These types of deals would have been really great had we NOT re-signed Melo but now we are stuck with our false-hope and have to try to compete with him.

I prayed we would sign and trade him to the Bulls for picks/Mirotic/Snell but no we re-upped our aging fugazy star and we are no longer able to fantasize about stock-piling draft picks for the promise of a better day tomorrow.

Our best bet is that Phil spends his FA $$$ on younger players and does not out-right chase +29 year old guys who will decline in 2 years.

LivingLegend--the reality is most Knick fans do not know the pure inside of how the NBA work--maybe 50% on this message board that has what 200 members or so do? When you go to real gm 1/2 the members there believe we will get something like K Leonard and L Aldridge --something of that ilk. A few months ago when I mentioned Anjica and Carroll on real gm--people thought I was crazy--stupid--why would we get those guys?

Well I think we are getting Carroll--Carroll agent is also the agent for 3 Knicks his name is Cornstein and they are 3 Knicks whoe my be promised back. So the Knicks may have already had a deal in place for Carroll with big money behind it--I assume the same for Greg Monroe . Free agency doesnt begin on July 1 it ends on July 1 all of the posturing comes months before under the table. Unless we get pick 1 I still believe that Phil Jacksons plan is Greg Monroe WCS and Demarre Carroll--posibly D Green as well if each of those guys take a sliver less. I still dont see a good team but its one that can get to 35 wins and vie for the 8th seed--and really thats all Dolan wants.

Most on real GM believe exactly what most believe on here in that our big get will most likely be G.Monroe and one of D.Carroll or D.Green and nobody thinks we have any chance at K.Leonard so you saying they do is a lie. Now about LMA there are some that think we have a chance at him but most think he'll end up in San Antonio or maybe Dallas.

Go through the posts--many people still say were getting K Leonard L Aldridge Dray Green or J Butler. Like Ive said now for a month UNLESS we get pick 1 Phil Jacksons plan is Greg Monroe Carroll or Green and WCS. Thats fine--but we'll still sck.

Really we have 2 hopes

That we really get pick 1 like cryz said OR that Okafor kills in pre drfat workouts everyone knows it and the pressure to take him at 2-3 is too high for Phil to move off. If we get stuck with Stein and Monroe after winning 17 games--Knick fans will sht their pants.

I haven't read anyone talking about Kawhi in the last few months. There are a couple of guys who are hot for Draymond Green, but no one is saying we have a great chance at getting him. We'd all love Butler, but most think he's staying in Chicago.

LMA is a very intriguing situation. It's hard to know what he's thinking given how bad things ended in the playoffs. He looked tired and frustrated in that series. He's gonna need surgery on his thumb and maybe he will be looking for a change of scenery.

If Phil drafts anyone but Okafor then i'm confident that he's going after Greg Monroe. If we draft Towns, Russell or Mudiay, then Monroe makes sense. It just adds up. He's a young PF/C that operates in the post, rebounds and passes at a high level. All signs point to a match. We get Okafor then I see no way he goes for Monroe. I think Danny Green is a likely target as well. He fits the general needs for a 3nD SG. He would fit right in with Shved or Gallo next to him.

We cant pass on Okafor at 2 no matter who we take. Would you pass on Karl Malone because hes 19? Before Okafor is 21 he will be greatly superior player to Monroe.

I actually think Okafor is Phil's number 1 pick. Regardless, if the Knicks get a top 2 pick, I think we will have either Towns or Okafor. We have a 40% chance of this, so fingers crossed!

I would also love D'Angelo Russell, so I'm telling myself we have a 60% chance at Okafor, Towns, or Russell. I think that math works out.

I agree if we get Okafor that signing Greg Monroe or LMA seems redundant and the money could be better spent elsewhere.
