Is it possible Phil did it on purpose to get us a #1 top pick and knew to dump salary to give Carmelo the best team melo has ever had in his career ? Maybe Phil knew jr and iman were garbage stat was broken down , Tyson was over rated, that team would never contend for a chip ... The only way to build a contender is to create salary space and fingers crossed the number one pick.. The Knicks will be sitting very pretty come the off season
Then why did he call his first off-season a failure? That too was on purpose? Why would you add triple the PG salary commitment by replacing Felton with Calderon if all you wanted to do was tank? Why not at least get draft picks for Tyson? The picks are players in the future and wouldn't interfere with tanking. If Phil did this on purpose, he executed it idiotically. Even people who love what he's done like Nixluva have admitted this year's failure was accidental.
I think getting Calderon was purposeful. He clearly could not stay healthy, which may have been predictable, but I certainly wasn't foreseeing injury to Calderon. I saw a 43% 3pt shoot PG that has decent assist numbers that looks pretty ideal for the Triangle. Did it work out? Not yet. I, personally, haven't given up on him though and expect him to be the starting PG next season (no stretch). I think he fits the model of Phil's system, even if he isn't a top 10 point guard. Could that remain a mistake? yeah.
+1
Please, please somebody also tell me Calderone is worse (even hurt) than a healthy Ray Felton. I would love to read all about missing Ray Felton.
That's where we are now..Improving on Ray Felton??..Calderon is worse...Ray guided a 54 win team...But Calderon has a career on his own and he never been good...
Yes, yes! This is it! The worst PG in the league was one of the main reasons we won 54 mofo games! But Calderone who's finished in the top five in assits, top 10 in shooting %, and led the league in 3 pt shooting, had nothing to do with winning and is worse than the worst PG in the league! Yes, this is what I needed to read!
Please, go back and bump the YouTubeRayFelton thread!
We got 2 yoots for a locker room cancerous Mrs. Hibbert who was hurt more often than not, and Ray Felton. Let's all pine away for Tyson Flu Chicken Personal Reasons Mrs. Hibbert Chandler.
Yes, getting some sort of improvement at PG might just be a good place to start when you're cleaning house.
Phil's such a dolt.
I can't tell you what happened in Dallas..But we all saw him here..Phil said there are no takers..So there is that..
Ray was the worst PG in the league here, not in Dallas. I can't tell you (are even care to look up) what Felton did in Dallas. If you're referring to Calderone, I don't get your point, because fish just told you what he did in Dallas. There are really no takers for an injured PG at $7 mil per year? Wow.
You are trying to make it about Felton and its not..No matter how bad Felton is doesn't make the Calderon trade a good one..Dallas hung a 7 mil per anvil on that deal and we can't get out from under it..
You're flopping, please make up your mind. First Ray's great, now it's not about the Ray.
Again, we got two yoots and jettisoned some old, non-Phil crap nobody wanted except the Smart/Psycho Cuban. We took back a whooooooooole $7 mil for a demonstrably better PG who ended up getting hurt instead of arrested. In a coming year where the cap is going up. Give it up already.
You don't like Cleananthony? You don't like the Greek Freak? You don't like yoots?
