Hi, I'm Splat and I'm a recovering Knicks fan.
If I could engage right now I would (never been shy about that), but I don't have time to play on the UK board right now so I'll say this and let it ride until I'm back some other time.
I'd sum up my general outlook as negative. Don't deny it. And the general reason is aside from not trusting Dolan, he hired a GM and a Coach who are both total rookies.
I don't believe Phil's past experience transferred to this job well thus far and I simply do not believe you can pull off a successful transformation when both the GM and the Coach are newbies learning on the job. One maybe, but not both.
And if it is one newbie, then it should be a coach, but not the GM.
Most every first time GM was prepared for the job well in advance. Phil was not. And he's too old and unhealthy to feel there will be any continuity or ability to sustain a culture.
My outlook is everything has to go right to make a contender. But I've said miracles do happen. If a miracle happens I will be happy for Knicks fans, not looking to undermine their good fortune. Believe that or not, it is true.
I did not attack Nix. I challenged them and got frustrated and said why. I wish they would stop putting down opposing viewpoints. I don't believe Knicks fans are stupid for hoping for the best. They are fans. That's what fans do. But you can do it without calling everyone else stupid all the time.
That was my frustration. Extreme opinions should be tolerated, mine or Nix, and can be held and shared without condescension. I've done it to, but I catch myself when I do and I modulate my expression accordingly. Maybe some will do the same for themselves, maybe not. Out of my hands.
Catch y'all later, too busy to play.
