It is highly unlikely that the Knicks and Phil Jackson will pick up Shved's qualifying offer of $3,998,408
However, we are still evaluating what Shved's strengths and weakness's could fit in with the team and system when we actually collect the talent needed to execute the Triangle with STARS/2nd tier players/3rd teir/better role players
It also depends on how we spend our money this summer, who we draft *especialy if we draft Russell dependent on our draft order* with our pick/in addition to the possiblity of acquiring more picks/undrafted players/ and who we may target, and if our plan will be retool this summer or have 2nd thoughts of preserving cap space in 2years when the rise of the cap of extra 20m with a possible lock out/NEW CBA negatations
I think Phil Jackson realizes that we are best to acquire talents on cap friendly deals that will be part of our future or be able to be used as assets to rotate like Houston has done in the past, with the possiblity of trading some of our players/contracts for assets, and absorbing bad contracts for draft picks/assets, focusing on development of players/player development/coaches to gain more experience
Then in another season, in 2017
To go after a collection of UFA's like Durant, Whiteside/Noah, Pau Gasol *player option*, and many other talents, while possibly using next season as another year of collecting talent/assets with cap space like Sixers did with McGee, and possibly even trading CA to a contender along with some of our other players
This past trade deadline's moves/trades and our horrible year will unlikely be able to attract TOP TIER talents without overpaying, possibly even 2nd tier at TOP tier prices/contracts
2015 or this Summer was suppose to be the best UFA's, however, not anymore as teams/players have postponed their ability to be free agents with the trades like Dragic to Miami, postponing the talent to the BEST UFA's in 2017 in addition to RFA's such as Anthony Davis/Drummond/Lilliard which will all likely resign with their own teams and likely many teams will be doing the same to try to collect a combination of talents with cap space, especially teams like Philly/Boston who have many young players/draft picks/future draft picks/rights to draft picks stashed in Europe, and contenders like Cleveland/Bulls/Houston/Spurs/Miami
will all have more picks than us and a much stronger collection of talents with young players/veterans
Especially a team like Philly who has
Noel
Embid
over 20 draft picks in the next couple of years
Including possibly many 1st round picks in this summers draft and high 2nd round picks/later 2nd round picks in a very strong draft
some combination of young talents that are still developing on cheap on multiyear deals like
Robert Covington
Isaiah Canaan/Tony Wroten
Jakarr Sampson/Hollis Thompson
Furkan Aldemir
Early Bird rights to
Thomas Robinson, Glen Robinson III, Ish Smith, and may others on minimum salaries
While we are doing a good job in terms of acquiring some cap friendly young players like
Galloway, Thanasis, Early, Travis Wear, Lance Thomas, and other D Leaguer's in Orlando Sanchez who I have been praising with Galloway as good fits in this system which are basically like having extra draft picks that could be locked up to cap friendly deals like we did with Galloway
There are also some other BIGS like Ben STrong, Cummings, Backnasksi *who was the leading shot blocker that went undrafted, that just needs to get stronger and get in NBA shape to be able to play in the speed of the NBA*
No we didn't get a Hassam Whiteside but I think our D League system has really helped our future development for many years upcomin
