Meanwhile, Phil talks about how Bargnani needs to score more with Melo gone.

Bargnani should've been bought out a week ago!

It's unbelievable that Bargs is still on the team; he should have been bought out immediately after the trade deadline.

There's so much Bargs hatred that it clouds the minds of many Knick Fans. They never stop to look at the situation from a practical standpoint. There are so few players out there who can actually play at this level and fit into what we're doing. Bargs biggest issue has been health. When he's actually playing he's not been bad. If we stop looking at him as a 1st rd. pick and just look at him for what he is, a possible reserve big, then there's nothing wrong with having him hang around and seeing if he can stay on the floor and contribute. People act like there's this superstar just waiting for us to get rid of Bargs so we can bring them in.

Bargs is good for tanking- madness for people to suggest letting such a tank asset walk.

Phil wants to take a look at what if with bargs and calderon to placate his ego. I think reality has already kicked in there. I'm not big on Robinson I don't think he brings what we need.I'd rather focus on guys who have rim protecting capabilities with athleticsm length and two way skill diversity. We need more focus from the d league in the backcourt

We should be. Khem Birch, Willie Reed, Jordan Hamilton, Glen Rice Jr, and Seth Curry are all available in the D-League. We already know Bargnani is one of the worst players in the league, at least give his spot to somebody who MIGHT be good.

Is this a real post? Bargs biggest issue is that he is not even a good back up player because of his vast deficiencies as a defender, rebounder, scorer, and passer. The dude has played enough minutes to show everyone how awful of a basketball player he is on the NBA level.

How does a guy like that bounce around. There's gotta be more to him than this incredible highlight video

He is listed at 6'10" but now way he is that tall. He is an undersized PF with a suspect outside shot. Watched him a lot when he was with the Rockets. He is outmatched physically with the taller PFs in the west. I think he would be a good pick up though. Not starter material but I think is better than Acy or Wear.

Yeah, they played together at Kansas, right? They're definitely all Kansas guys. Oh well.

I was not a big fan of Thomas for the draft, with a lot of talent drafted prior to him, even though he was a TOP 3 pick in many mock drafts earlier in his year
Talent drafted AFTER him

Damian Lillard
Harrison Barnes
Terrence Ross
Andre Drummond

As I said on draft night, Lilliard and Drummond were the steals on draftnight and I do not know how so many teams didn't pick them up earlier, especially with Drummond
I even said that the on DEFENSE, Drummond was not far behind and could even be ahead of Anthony Davis but maybe some advanced STAT's didn't support my eye test

Many teams had PG's already for Lilliard so I can understand that a bit on draft night, without knowing what we know now
But Drummond was a safe pick to be a double double machine with D12 type athleticism/body, and many teams could have used a PF/C of that type of upside

I didn't think highly of Thomas as an undersized PF that wasn't a shooting threat as a lottery pick BUT if we are talking about signing him for NOTHING while our Offense is predicated on POST UP abilities
I think it is a no brainer, though there are a lot of teams that can offer him much more money than us
He is trying to figure out his best options for him and his family
I like the kid and I would not mind keeping him for a cap friendly contract on a 2 year deal *which would probably be best for him*
Whether he should join a contender, join a team with a PG that will get him looks *like with Clippers since Blake Griffen is out*, or even LA where he will get nearly as much attention as he would in NY if he does well

However, I would not pay north of 2.5m to keep him, there simply are a lot of PF's in FA in the summer, D League, NBA draft, and I think Orlando Sanchez could be brought up next year on a cheap salary if no one brings him up this year before that
I would probably just offer him the rest of the season, so we have no cap holds, not sure if he would even consider a 2nd year vet min with a player option
Thing is he is an undersized PF, while we could use that positoin on PF/C's, SF/PF, and more skilled PF, but at that price he would be a steal because he still has potential
Being cut and traded so many times, he will not take it for granted and I would bring in Rasheed Wallace to work on his game, rebuild this guy's confidence
I would prefer Thomas over Acey but again with this Summers DRAFT with so many BIGS and we have a chance to at least draft 1 BIG

I am very confident that Orlando Sanchez will be at least a rotational player and has done well in the Triangle while with our D League to execute in the system with Thanasis and Galloway
In addition to the draft, there is also Jason Smith, Lance Thomas and Lou Amundson *though I think he will continue his journey as a journey man*

Nix I get you're an optimist and always try to look on the bright side and defend moved Phil makes and that's cool but how you can type that Bargs is anything less than a total waste of space and an awful, basketball player is beyond me. He flat out suhucks. Period. He won't wven be in the NBA next season, I would be willing to wager.

Are you guys really trying to justify keeping Bargs at this point? The writing has been on the wall for a while now: this is a lost season where the most we can do is try to find diamonds in the rough in the NBDL or anywhere else. Anybody who is evidently not coming back should not.

At this point, Bargnani is simply a bust of a lottery pick, an uncoordinated, messy player that at best is a liability on defense and an erratic shot on offense. The guy isn't good and I can't believe some here even want to suggest keeping him as a reserve. It was a huge mistake to trade for him and right not we are better off trying out NBDL standouts than giving him any playing time.

I think he's nuts if he doesn't look into signing T-Rob, if only for the remaining whatever -- 25 games or so. Bring him in and let's take a look. Much higher end potential than Acy, Wear, Lou Amundson, Lance Thomas, Bargnani or whatever the hell else he's got in place right now. If I were Phil, I'd be in full blown talent accumulation phase right now -- first with low level players with potential, then with the draft and finally with higher end FAs once the cap room opens up. T-Rob qualifies for step 1.

Why do people think every player would want to come and play here above all other teams?

Lemme hear that Phil's at least inquiring about some of the standout DL type talent -- that's all I care about. Guys are gonna rebuff us. That's ok--lemme just hear that our illustrious leader is checking in with the right players. Haven't heard nearly enough for my taste. God forbid we try to uncover a jewel here, like a Jeremy Lin. We don't have anything like that on this roster (I think Alexey Shved could be a lot like Jeremy Lin actually--maybe a better player eventually if it finally started clicking). I like Early but he's not playing well for whatever reasons. Let's start seeing Shved play. I can accept losing and tanking for the greater good. No problem. I've be advocating it in fact...What's hard to accept is watching Bargnani, Lou Amundson and the like out there masquerading as featured players and future Knicks. Sorry. Not how I'd go about this tank job. I would've pulled out all the stops to bring JaMychal Green here. Did Phil do that? My gut tells me no.
