Id probably keep him now and relegate him to 15th man dressed because he has an ending 8mm $ contract we may need. But the non move was poor.

He might be able to play a role in wooing Demarr Derozan.

Been reading everyone's posts for a while, but this is my first reply, so greetings and salutations to you all!

Anyway:
I read in a few places that teams are now working under the assumption that next years cap will be 92 mil, instead of the original projection of 89 mil.

If 92 mil is the new number, then stretching Calderon (gaining 5.1 mil in cap space) puts us about 25 mil under. That’s max contract territory. And yes, I’m taking into account cap holds. You don’t wanna be going to the top free agents with hat in hand, asking them to take a 5 mil discount. You wanna be able to offer them the max.

I'm sure if a max player says yes, like a DeRozan (if you view him as such) a Conley (again if you view him as such) or Durant - if any of them want to be Knicks, they will definitely either stretch Calderon (3 years) or do a salary dump move.
