The system needs a player with a midrange shot. Tyson could not.
While no doubt this season is a disappointment the Dallas trade really did provide us with a lot of parts ON PAPER:
Jose, a vet shooter.
Dalembart a rim protecter
Larkin, a back up PG with yooth and friendly contract
ClearAnthony, Yoot potential.
Perhaps some are confused and think that Tyson if still on the knicks would be as good as Dallas is with him in the line up.
Perhaps with our injury and the benefit of hindsight some how confuse this with intellegence.
The trade was never designed to turn us into a contender.
He was not going to be good here. Most of our realists know that.
The question is, did we make a good trade - Get back a good package for him.
Unless Thanan and/or Early are really good, then it looks like we did not do well.
Like I said before it was not a good trade because of the value Dallas placed on Tyson. They had mentioned how much they missed Tyson way before the trade. I always thought Tyson had 1st rd pick value and thought they would have asked for a 2015 pick. It is what it is though. You really know how the negotiations went and what was asked. Maybe the tried then settled.
The reason Phil didn't get a 1st probably didn't ask
Which is a tattle on himself, he figures trading
Tyson to Dallas a team who won 49gms without him
Gets you a very low 1st rounder, in that would Tyson make them worse
Probably not, that's why you have to be creative
He could have included Shumpert in the deal expanded to a 3way
Got a 1st rounder and maybe another future 2nd rounder from another team
So in essence getting 3 2nd rounders for Tyson instead of just 2 in a so-so draft
Maybe package them to move up and get another first in the draft
This is what someone like Morey would have done
