For the last time, deduct Feltons salary from that figure. He's a $3mil a year player- thats okay for what he is.

while i understand i think what you are saying (hes only 3 mil more than feltons cap hit), the guy is paid 7 and he counts as 7 and he isnt worth it. they are not deducting what felton would have been paid on the cap.

No but if we didn't trade for him we'd still have Feltons salary, plus we'd need to spend money on a PG and back up pg. I'm no fan of Calderon, but Feltons contract screwed our options.

We finally have a guy that shoots consistently from 3 and can kill teams that way, but he is a role player who won't be appreciated until he has the right guys around him. We don't need to trade him. We need more high-efficiency shot makers, not less.

I can see where Calderon can fit that type of role..But his salary if a killer if we are looking to add two pieces next to Melo..

He and Melo make up combined 30 mil next season. JR will likely be traded and Shump won't be resigned. With guys like Acy, THjr, Prig, Wear, and Early all making peanuts, should still be plenty of space to add one max player and one near max player. I know Calderon makes a lot of money and has a ton of holes in his game, but i can't stress enough how imporant it is to have shooters and high IQ guys on the roster. He is a high quality role player who is being exposed without the needed help.

If that is your way of looking at it, then we're paying an extra $3M for a player who is no more than the 10th man on a good club. What a value.

It's an extra $14 mil over the next 3 years.

It's a significant chunk of cap space over an extended period of time for a player we don't need. That's the problem. Trying to pass it off as not so bad compared to Felton is completely besides the point.

Bad culture will turn good players into trash..

He was only 4th in minutes and 11th in USG%; Monta Ellis was the primary ball handler on that team. I honestly like Calderon but as a role player, not as the 2nd or 3rd best player on a team. He isn't, if he ever was, one of the 15 best PG in the league.

Also, I think Devin Harris was the best point guard on Dallas during that series. Harris was hurt earlier in the season, but he came back strong.
