earthmansurfer wrote:As some have said - First, the only way we get anything for Bargs, Amare (to a lesser extent J. Smith) is if we take back a longer contract. Now, a team may want to clear salary (of a good player if there is no other choice) and then take back the before mentioned. We would then have to make the best bid regarding teams who have expirings.

Second - I think the only way we take back a bad contract is if the player is good or if we know we have zero chance in FA, which I really really doubt.

I would be somewhat shocked if we are able to move the first 2 mentioned guys. Can you believe we gave up a 1st round pick for Bargs??? What the hell were they thinking? We could have had Lowry for that.

It is asinine the mistakes made by previous GM/coaches here in NY. They traded young talents for or gave a boat load of money to a group of guys they should have never acquired. I realized how stupid the head of this organization was when they made Allen Houston a $100 million player. How the hell are you going to pay a one trick pony that much money is beyond my intelligence. The dude played no defense, did not rebound the ball and couldn't do anything else but shoot the ball. Instead of learning from their mistakes, they turned around and repeated the same mistake by overpaying for another one trick pony in Amare. This has certainly been a frustrating organization to watch the last 30 years

Not disagreeing with you, but FYI it was $80M. Still too much. At the time, it was the contract heard around the world because it was so expensive at that time.

6 years $100 million was the deal. See below

July: Operating under the management theory that if you pay a player like Michael Jordan he will play like Michael Jordan, shooting guard Allan Houston receives a six-year, $100 million contract. This proves totally wrong, as Allan goes on to miss ninety-seven games during its first four seasons before retiring completely for the final two, earning $432,900 per game played. (Kobe Bryant’s per game played rate last season: just over $230,000.) Meanwhile, as a witness in a trial, Patrick Ewing testifies about receiving a pair of complimentary blowjobs at the Gold Club strip joint while a member of the Knicks. Having recently traded Ewing, the franchise takes solace in knowing surely they will never have such a humiliating courtroom experience ever again.

My memory failed me. Thanks

Find a way to turn Amare and Bargnani's expiring contracts into draft picks and clear the logjam we have in the Guard department as well. With draft picks, we can draft players that fit the TRIANGLE.

A tall PG that can shoot and defend
Catch and shoot specialists. Get two of them.

LOL maybe you're right though I give it (Rating B-) to Amare Stout he's at least tried and worked out 150% to keep on court
or at least try to earn his respect by fans not using Injury as excuse(s).

As far as the 3 you cited can't be teammates
Yep,
The GOOD, The BAD and the UGLY you can call em' Amare <good>, Bargnani <bad> and certainly J.R. Smith <ugly?> perhaps

Amare only does one thing when he is on the court; power up and try to score. He never looks to pass or plays decoy. He is by far the most selfish player on this roster. Once he has the ball, he pushes the defender and attacks whether he is doubled or not. I can't believe we payed this fool $ 100 million
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

He does talk a lot of shizznit, but is a horrible: defender, passer, shot blocker, and rebounder. In my opinion, he is only worth no more then $6 million Per year.

Not even. He may not be get a single offer in the off-season. Just watch. He can finally go and play in Israel, which is what I predict will happen.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Regarding Jayson Smith, I actually thought he was a much better player then He has showed this far. He has confidence issues, plays no defense, always passes the ball to the opposing teams, and can't rebound the ball. Give Wear the freaking minutes and allows him to develop. He is hungrier, much more athletic, plays at both ends of the court and the offense flows when he is on the court.

It is easy to tell what sort of night you will get from J smith. When is jumper is on, he can stay on the court.

misconstrued by whom-- utterly humorless people? stoudemire is just the type of guard that hezbollah and hamas would love. when i use the term "zionist entity" i am for the record mocking hamas and hezbollah.

did this really need explaining? come on man!
