We know Kobe loves his money too

He's the one who's been mentoring Melo over the yrs

I select to receive 19% of my salary every year in one payment. It is the max allowed under my contract. Is that because I love money?

apparently you need the money. melo clearly does not.

The article did say it was "rare" for players to ask for max advances correct?

Apparently for Melo money is a high priority

REALLY? I mean come on man. These kinds of comments are so unnecessary. I think we need to get back to talking about Melo the player. We live in a capitalist society and people are allowed to make money. He's not selling drugs or robbing people. He's an entertainer. No one questions Tom Cruise for making millions for his movies or Taylor Swift for raking it in for her concerts and CD sales.

I'm just glad that Phil Jackson is on board and seems to be having a positive effect on the players. Melo in particular seems very receptive to what Phil is asking him to do. I hope Melo has the best year of his career and helps this team go on a deep playoff run.

There's nothing wrong nor inaccurate from my comment made

Melo loves money and it's a huge priority in his life.

No one said he loves money more than life itself or that it was above basketball

Sometimes it's okay to take a break from Melo the player.

We do talk about Melo a lot and not enough about others, that's for sure

I linked an article from the guy who trains with Melo and has for yrs

I'd think he'd know a little more than you or myself what some of his motivations are for getting in shape

There is an article posted in this thread that said 50 of the contracts negotiated this offseason. I saw another article where it said agents were advising their clients to have how they should set up compensation in preperation for the 2017 lockout.

I'm speaking in terms of "Max Advances" and not asking for some kind of advance.

Especially for rookies who need money to get acclimated to NBA life, which is understood

I remember we advanced money to Eddy Curry during some point in his contract

It happens, just like there are players who stretch their contracts beyond playing career

It is a yearly advance. He gets paid the same amount annually. I am not sure why Melo is doing this but similar to the other 50 players that did this this offseason, it was collectively bargained by his union. Herring wrote an article that makes him appear to be very ignorant of the nba cba and irresponsible as a journalist. Have fun with his mistake but know that an annual salary is a set amount. What is your take on LeBron, Kyrie, and Miller who are all did the same thing with their contracts? Are those guys pulling an Eddy Curry?

Raymond Felton was pretty good a couple of years ago, but has since been dogged on for his not-so-good player on the court as well as his weight issues. The former New York Knicks point guard was made fun of for being “fat.”

Felton, now on the Dallas Mavericks, is looking to reinvent himself. During a press conference with the Mavs today, Felton claimed that he has been in the best shape he’s ever been in the last four or five years.

I think it's funny he confined it to past 4-5yrs

Of course every player has a scoreboard 0-0 offseason agenda

There is some ecstatic Dallas fan who will ride the shapely Felton silhouette

The entire season and feel he'll be a difference to the wide openess out West

hopefully Dallas has fans who will tell them the truth, that Felton sucks, their team cant get past the Clippers, Spurs or OKC and every other team got better besides them. You know.. like the kinds of fans we have here.

Who cares what Felton is saying or doing? He had his chances here and now he can take that to Dallas. He didn't fit here anymore and i'm glad that we've moved on and can give someone else a chance. Maybe we can just have a PG play ball and not try to prove he's not fat or that he's "elite". I'm tired of the games with Felton to be honest.
