If either will sign for about 2.5 (the rest of the MLE) the better
Would even consider Delfino if needed with Ellington's contract
Maybe Darius Morris to 2 year, vet min, team option partial guaranteed deal
You know, that's not bad at all, Ron. I feel what you're saying here. Flipping JR/Pablo for Ilyasova makes a lot of sense. It would give us a quality younger/skilled option at PF (I agree with Nix--I think he could be real good here with the change of scenery, esp. in this system--his best yrs could be ahead of him in this system. Ersan definitely feels like a Phil guy too); his salary virtually equals JR & Pablo's for the 2015/16 season so no harm done to the cap; and it would open up the Pablo roster spot which I feel we really need to upgrade anyway (a guy like Jerryd Bayless would be a significant upgrade in speed and talent over Prigioni)...Plus, it would alleviate the glut at 2G and allow us to keep Ellington around who I actually like, although if the Bucks wanted Ellington, I wouldn't let that hold up the deal.
For the Bucks, trading away Ilyasova would free up instant playing time for lottery pick Jabari Parker (and more time for Giannis Antetokounmpo). I think JR could fit in Milwaukee, esp. if they wind up moving Mayo. And if they kept Mayo and he returned to form, JR could be a quality 6th man for them...Even Pablo makes some sense for them -- a vet presence at the point to complement all their young guys, he could mentor Wolters, play alongside the 6'4" Wolters for stretches, etc.. They look thin at the point right now behind Wolters. Good thing about this deal is that the salaries are manageable for both teams -- if JR/Pablo didn't work out for them as planned, they could easily turn the page in 2 years; as could we with Ilyasova.
I'd push for this deal. I think I'd even sweeten it up somehow. Instead of the Bucks giving us a 2nd round pick maybe it's us that gives them the future 2 to entice, plus either Ellington, the rights to Louis Labeyrie and/or cash (how much did we give Indy for Labeyrie? Couldn't have been the full $3.3mm, right? We should still have some money left over to include in a trade). Maybe we even include our trade exception as a sweetener..
