The EXPECTATIONS comment is spot on. Perhaps sadly, he was statistically our 2nd best player while he was healthy.
16/6 and more than a blk a game. Dude was trying and that was in Woody's god awful offense. No one knew what they were doing and he still was playing well for this team for a while there before everyone lost hope. My main point and I think Phil's is that Bargs is salvageable as a player. There's something to work with if you try. We can't trade him so the best thing to do is to work with him and get him playing well. Then you may just have a trade possible if he's playing well. This is the only way to handle it. The Triangle is perfect for Bargs and there's no reason to think if he could do 16/6 in Woody's broken offense that he can't do just as well if not better in Phil's Triangle.
You think Phil didn't notice what Bargs did last year? You think he hasn't evaluated every single player on the roster from every possible angle? You think he wasn't shaking his head as he watched film of the Knicks offense and how Bargs was used improperly? You can't just roll the ball out and have every player excel on their own. Not every player thrives that way. As we can see with the SL Team, if you put good players in a great system and coach them up, they can perform at a higher level. With every game Tyler has looked better and better. Cole Aldrich was looking like a legit C in this system. Coaching does matter and it could be the difference for STAT and Bargs this year.
