1) if melo leaves he becomes someone else's problem and knicks fans like me win-- culture change at msg prevails and we finally get a fresh start again after the walsh squad was unjustly aborted

2) if melo stays then he will simply confirm he wants money more than winning-- melo fans get their man but they and melo are exposed and the knicks remain mediocre

3) if melo stays for a deep discount and jackson swings a deal where lebron comes here then we all win

Option 3 would be the best thing Melo could do. Take less money and show your loyalty to the team and show you want the Knicks to win moe than a fw extra million that you make from endorsements and stuff anyway.

i don't care either way, but why would option 3 be best for melo? why should he give a "deep discount" and leave all that money on the table? so fans think he's a better guy? would you give your place of employment a "deep discount" to keep your services?

so you prefer to root for melo more than the knicks. kooky

the answer is so he can win here in new york. he said he wants to win so this is what he has to do. can't expect jackson to scramble to assemble somthing, he has bigger fish to fry, such as building a champion. that starts with sacrifice, which is clearly not in melo's repertoire.

however, the precedents have been set to the degree that he will look really bad if he doesn't.

simple!

How about rooting against the Knicks so Melo looks bad. A bit more kooky in my opinion. Knicks weren't worth your time and were 'fools gold' during the 54 win season.

cite the posts that prove that i am rooting against the knicks. and while you're at it cite the posts that showed how you felt about the looming melo trade from before i got here.

Not necessary. Are you saying that when many suggested that you didn't watch the Knick games during the 54 win season that you didn't say, I will watch the Knicks when they are worth my time and that you didn't call the Knicks success 'fools gold'?

i admit that i said those things but your inference is ridiculous.

just to prove how ridiculous, why not try to show how that is the same as saying "i root against the knicks."

yea... like rooting for the Giants but hoping Eli fails. DK is so transparent. Clearly roots against Melo. Funny... last I checked he was playing for the Knicks. DK can spin it anyway he wants, but while Melo is here he wants the KNicks to fail. If they succeed it means more Melo, something he cant cope with. Hell... I thought Marbury was one of the bigger dbag tools to play for a NY team but I wanted him to play well, I rooted for him to play well. My god I remember a little optimism when he was playing really well with KVH, Doleac, Kurt... the dark days.

no not really. i find the melknicks extremely boring, because melo's game is mostly ugly and boring with occasional flashes of brilliance. basically a faulty july 4th sparkler that fizzles and sparkles but mostly fizzles. probably that was coaching too, so i will concede that. still, melo's game has been mostly boring.

Yeah, give me Gallo on the IR, the Mayoral disappearing act, and Moz getting posterized any day of the week. And throw in the excitement of watching Nate the Great shoot layups at the wrong basket, Al slapping backboards, and Jeremy Lin's magical two week mystery tour. I truly enjoyed the everday excitement of the Eddy Curry era. Landry Fields and the parabola!

Who needs 27/8? That's boring! Buckets and bounds, WTF is that about?

when you fall into the trap of indulging in emotion-driven rhetoric it isn't a good look.

melo turns 31 shortly after the 2013-14 regular season which means the knicks have a chance to be viable only after melo's game will start to go downhill. that happens with most players. you want a breaking-down maxed out player on THIS roster? look at wade around the same age, who at the time was a better player than carmelo AND was playing with both lbj and bosh.

i just dismantled your 50-win team for you. just admit you don't know as much as you pretend you do and it will be all fine.

You are comparing Wade's breakdown to a potential Melo breakdown. Wow lol. Completely different players, different styles, different injury histories. You should look at players who better align with Melo's style to get a better idea of how his game will age.

shoulders and knees are both complex joints and shorten careers, and limit effectiveness.

wade has had increasing issues with his knees, starting back when he was 28-29.

melo has been having trouble with his shoulders the last two season, also around 28-29.

is it really that hard to detect a pattern here. god damn

Let's look at it this way, supergenius: how many cases of microfracture surgery are performed on people's shoulders?
Or let's even make this simpler: in the game of basketball, what joint do you think just MIGHT be under a bit more contant pressure? And no, I don't mean the thing in your mouth.

Hey! You know what? You forgot to divide Melo's possible earnings by each knee!

So in Melohate world, shoulders are equal to knees, if you can possibly make a case for someone who just had the best statistical career of his life being on the downturn in the near term.

pattern recognition.

melo leads with his shoulders.

pattern recognition.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

DK, like many others get deep into the debate and being "right" trumps the real subject.

Fish, you fall for it way too often. Don't debate it. Its what he wants.

Any discussion of the Gallo Era, or Denver with melo is irrelevant after 3 years.

Arguing the abstract and backing it with Metrics that are variable and ignore the support players makes for no conclusion but wins and Losses.

Saying "Melo went to the playoffs" as if he is in a tennis tournament or Golf tournament on his own?
