Shump the Chump is next. All saboteurs from last year need to go. Chandler, Felton check. Next two are Shump and JR.

Let's take into account that rose missed the last two seasons after suffering the same injuries.

I wouldn't be so quick to give up on him. Definitely let a coach support him and work with Phil and then see what the value holds

we are not going to win coddling guys that will only amount to being a role player.

its a tough one.. he's shown flashes of being a real impact player on the defensive end, and since we now have a PG who can shoot the lights out but cant guard the lamppost he just lit Shump has some enticing aspects about him. I dont like his contract sitatution though and the fact that he could have a great year and look to get paid then who knows.

I would gauge his trade value and if I like something bite on it. Otherwise I think we can get something from him next year.

Exactly my initial point but people are too quick to throw away guys for unknown picks. We need Shumperts lockdown defense next to Calderon and the diminutive Larkin

Think JR will be traded with Bargnani eventually

Thats a much more sensible approach. You have Calderon and THjr. You need a legit defender with those guys and Shump can guard all three wing spots. Remember Shump is an RFA end of season so there is risk in paying him.

On the ball yes, off the ball no. Also, can someone get him in the layup line?

Who has Shumpert locked down though? He's never locked down anyone

cmon... thats not fair. He's had an impact on that side of the ball for sure. Can he do it consistantly and can he bring his offense to a point where he's reliable enough to be a rotation guy?

Knicks were better defensively with Shump on the floor. I dont really care if Shump comes or goes, but he's got some potential for a good rotation player if he stays.

At least he does something defensively. You can count on 1 hand the number of guys who take pride in defense in today's game

Shump needs a change in scenery. Both 1st Rounders from OKC would be great but probably not going to happen. More like Shump for the 21st pick. Shump is a very good defender but his shooting abilities does not match the triangle offense.

If OKC offers that than it it hard to say no. With JR still here and the emergence of tim hardaway im nto sure shumpert will have the minutes

I'm pretty confident that he's gone. I hope we get two decent second round picks or, at least OKC's 21st. The 29th pick would be a bit of a letdown.

Maybe we trade 1 of are 2nds with Shumpert for the 21st pick

Seriously he is nowhere near as good as Leonard

I think people are to quick to judge his offensive game on last year - he has had stretches where he shot well.

I'd rather throw out last year's performance as Melo-itis and Woodsonitis as well as a touch of recovering from an injury.

I'd be inclined to see what he can do with a new group here before completely abandoning him.

I read a rumor that he is working out 2x/day, learning the triangle and reading all of Phils books. Just saying...
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Did Bruce Bowen have a legit offensive game?

I am by no means suggesting he will ever be that good - but I do think he could find a role to contribute on both sides of the ball.

He has at times been aggressive running a fast break attack- and if his mind is fixed by Phil Jackson and Fisher, I could see him hitting a high % of 3pt shots from the corner, set up, waiting for the pass out from good ball movement.

I think too many are giving up on Shump too soon. The guys does have the ability and just hasn't been able to put it all together, but you can see he's not far off. I think this is going to be the year he puts it all together. He doesn't have to be a huge offensive player to be an impact player for us.

That's what phil told him in the exit interview. Phil wants him here. I trust Phil on this one.

And remember Shump is a 90s bulls can sure he has a ton of respect for Phil
