I'm starting to think he should try to leave because at 30/31....His realistic window is like 3 more years at playing at a high level and he is going to be declining and possibly might stay to break down. Technically his shoulder issues say he is breaking down. Anyway the real opportunity is now for Melo to go somewhere he can win right away. If he goes to Houston he can have a big 3 of Harden and Howard and himself. If he conspires with miami he could have a big 4. Boston has alot of assets to trade plus money. Chicago has a foundation already in place.

Truthfully the Knicks are a step behind. They are up and coming though. We need to establish a foundation this year then look to add to it next year. Melo doesn't change any of that either way.

So what would you do if you were in that situation?

what evidence do you have of that? or is that just the fan in you with wishful thinking? knicks haven't done anything yet to show we are up and coming.. not one thing..

did you read the next two follow up sentences?

and yes it is wishful thinking...we just got Phil a few weeks ago and we just got Fisher a few days ago. He hasn't even hired a staff yet...the off season isn't officially here yet...the draft around the corner....change your coffee filter sometimes you crazy goat

tkf is here to make sure we all know that he thinks the Knicks suck, never a sentence missed in any thread. Most boring job in the world.

actually not boring martin, I kind of look at it as lending a fellow knick a hand.... who may be a bit delusional, unrealistic and can't come to terms with what we are actually dealing with..

we suck martin.. we have no picks martin, we lack a lot, that is the truth.. we are not on the rise at all.. do I hope we get there martin, HELL YES!! but I refuse to pretend we are something we are not.. even if it tends too irritate folks who tend to ignore the reality we are in.

So you are stating the obvious. Over and over and over and over and in every thread and it's the same retort to every post. Very boring indeed.

martin the fact that I am stating it over and over, it must not be so obvious for many..otherwise.. trust me, there would be no need for me to state it. I rather talk basketball and do so realistically.. If you think my retort to every post is the same, then I can only assume you haven't been reading many of my post... for instance my comments on the spurs and tony Gwynn , didn't have one negative knick comment in it... check it out..

Thats too funny.

a "RIP Tony Gwynn" thread really does deserve a negative Knick comment.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

What's even more disturbing is he feels the need to pat himself on the back for not doing it, like an addict patting himself on the back when he resists the urge to revert to old habits.

I read the following statements.. which are inconsistent with what I highlighted... we are not up and coming, we have done nothing to indicate that.. now after a year or so, we see some moves, some steps in a good direction. maybe we can say that enyspree.

I'm late I know....

up and coming is the accurate way to explain our situation. It doesn't say we are already there or else I would have said that.

I dunno how else to explain it so I'll dumb it down.

I know we ain't did nothing, but we the Zen Pimp and Fisher Price and a stack of money for these hoes baby in 2015! Sometimes I gotta slow down so you can catch up ya dig. Old Spice! *cue the whistle*

Or, more likely, stick it out working for Dolan and deal with nothing but frustration for the rest of your career.

I think hiring Phil is an indication that the next 5 years will involve less decision making by Dolan.

Please let it mean that!

That's the best case scenario.
Worst case scenario is that after about 5 months, Dolan becomes impatient, another overrated "star" becomes available, and he insists on giving up everything for the player.

Im really impressed by this. I think this shows great restraint and maturity from tfk. I mean it would be easy to bash Melo in a thread where people are talking about a sports legend who died from cancer, but did tfk? No he didnt.

The Spurs weren't dependent on one single player!!! That TEAM approach was a thing of beauty and represents everything that Phil believes in. Going back to his days as a Knick Phil knows 1st hand that it's about TEAM.

Sure there are other teams that have more top line talent right now, but doesn't guarantee you a title. IMO Houston lost because of their style of play and not a lack of talent. The same goes for OKC. Harden and Westbrook are not great team players. The Mavs played some good team ball and in their case it was a lack of talent. The Bulls need more talent as well. It's possible that if Melo goes to the Bulls he could put himself in a position to win a title. Melo has to choose wisely. If it was me i'd either stay in NY or go to the Bulls.

I agree with what you're saying in a way, but if there's one coach in the history of the game who was dependent on one single player, it was Phil Jackson.

There's no way his team approach is and was the same as the one you saw with San Antonio in the finals. Phil never heavily emphasized non stop ball movement and hitting the open man. Michael and Kobe were given a ridiculous amount of clear outs, more than Popovich ever gave his stars.

You cannot win the way the Spurs did when you have Michael, Shaq and then Kobe in each of their primes. Jackson's is just another totally different, yet proven formula of success which he deserves a lot of praise for.

Waiting for tkf to let everyone know he was trying to be funny. Wait for it...

"I was referring to the thread about the Spurs team play in comparison to Tony Gwynn's patience at the plate..."

Or "You people don't understand what it means to talk realistically about basketball..."

Or "I don't really like all this attention and I don't really watch the knicks that much anyway so..."

Or "You'll notice martin, that I didn't mention Melo or Gallo or the Nuggets or Paul George in any posts until someone baited me into it..."

Or "Eff you all, I have my own thread now! You don't!"

I gotta admit that that's really funny!

well no disrespect to tony gwynn of course I lost my mother to cancer which pretty much led me to joining these forums back in 2001 to take my mind off things... but of course some would use this to twist things that is sad..

of course I was being sarcastic, because of the over the top comments like, " every thread"... again, the problem is, when there are threads about basketball, not the knicks, just good ole basketball, the kevin love thread and others, you get very little participation it seems.. but for stuff like this, people come out the woodworks.. go figure ....

and yes it is wishful thinking...we just got Phil a few weeks ago and we just got Fisher a few days ago.

I gotta admit that that's really funny!

well no disrespect to tony gwynn of course I lost my mother to cancer which pretty much led me to joining these forums back in 2001 to take my mind off things... but of course some would use this to twist things that is sad..

of course I was being sarcastic, because of the over the top comments like, " every thread"... again, the problem is, when there are threads about basketball, not the knicks, just good ole basketball, the kevin love thread and others, you get very little participation it seems.. but for stuff like this, people come out the woodworks.. go figure ....

you bash Melo in every Knick thread. Every one. You as one dimensional as the guy you have declared jihad on. Discussing the Knicks with you is like discussing the US Gov on Fox Sports forums. Everything is wrong because of Obama. Everything is wrong because of Melo. Its the same!

TFK... booted from realGM for hating on Melo but his Gallo avatar lives on. (now you laugh inside a little )

yet you probably tune in to fox every day, just as you tune into the TKF channel.... hoooray for fishmike.. LOL..

Anyone who sits around and waits for the lottery to better themselves, either in real life or in sports, Is a Loser............... TKF

I don't know if people love it but some of the stuff written is so ridiculous I think it is hard not to respond. In regards to what happens after he leaves. I doubt he has the staying power of Lin and the legend of the 7 game win streak.
I'm tired,I'm tired, I'm so tired right now......Kristaps Porzingis 1/3/18
If you were 30/31 years old and in Melo ' s situation would you stay?
