Did getting Amare hurt what Melo could have done. It certainly did.
What if instead of Amare, we got West or Milsap + a Lowry type of player? Then we added pieces around that?
I can understand if people don't like melo and question parts of his game. His shot selection, his defense, etc ... but we could have put a pretty good team around him. Its probably what Phil is hoping to redo. Build a better team around Melo (for the right price).
Great post. The Amare signing, with what the docs in Phoenix were saying was really stupid and played out that way.
How were we stupid, did their doctors warn us about Amare's habit of slapping metal objects, did they warn us about his trick shots during warm ups the messes up his back, did they warn us about a lock out, did they warn us that he was going to lead the league in minutes played (before meloe got here)and HOW MDA would run him into the ground until he eventually broke down (also see Kobe under MDA and the mins he played, and how that turned out).
Did they warn us about melo coming over and literally taking 10 to 15 touches away from Amare, did they warn us that Tyson and Amare was not a good fit from jump.
Maybe you guys would have prefered Bosh or josh smith, for about 2 mill less, or joe johnson for 5 mill more.
Anybody who says Amare hampered this team because of his knee woes(4 total months out of 22.. he miss because of his knees) , is just a flat out hater, know very little about basketball and how a team succeeds, and their mind is just to narrow
