I don't think we can build a contending team around Melo because the rest of our pieces won't fetch anything of value. I also don't think Melo is a system player or will even try to fit into one since he openly refused to play for D'Antoni.

Not trying to get off topic but melo resigning would indicate he is willing to play in a system. Also, when did Melo openly refuse to play for Dantoni?

You are right. He quit on the team is what I should have said. He may be willing which I will believe when he actually takes less rather than talk about it. I still don't think he can play well in a system.

mark jackson would be the perfect coach for melo. melo should go to wherever mark jackson ends up. it'd be a perfect fit. no real system or plan, just let the favorite player improvise and make stuff happen, like with curry in golden state, apparently. no need to hold serious practices either. melo is just that talented, being a top 5 player in this league and what not. and ewing, patrick ewing should be the low-post, footwork, recognize the double team and pass out of the double team coach for melo. that's the ticket. and wherever that paradise is melo should be getting max money. talk about dynasty.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Syracuse and the Olympics don't count?

I too sense a little too much ex knick nostalgia and think oh mayo at point guard is a downgrade from prigs.

Felton and JR alone equals Thornton's contract. That deal would work. If Robinson and Prigioni are included in the deal to Houston, that would work once Asik and Lin are officially slated to earn $15 million apiece.

Why would Mayo be a downgrade at PG?

Ok. If this is fantasy basketball or a yahoo league then yes. Possible. Real life. Not a shot. Sorry man. I like your posts too, but maybe try to keep it simple.

Trade chandler, Felton and maybe jr. Or only s&t melo.

Your type of overhaul only works in video games. And maybe not even there.

Let's go Knicks. That's amare

Not familiar with system employed at Syracuse. Olympics is just a handful of games, where he was surrounded by the best players in the world. Being willing to play in a system and being committed to it during a grueling 82 games season facing adversity are two different things. I am very afraid that he may sign here being willing to play in the triangle. Then halfway through season one he will start pouting and his willingness will evaporate. This may not be popular POV but I think it is more in line with recent history than anything in the Olympics or Syracuse.

I cannot teach anybody anything. I can only try to make them think - Socrates
