Magic is a HOFer! Please name me someone else who has done this.

I don't get what the big deal is- D'Antoni knows Magic hated his coaching, he's hardly going to be upset to find out he's glad he resigned- it's not like he's going to go cry about it! Besides which D'Antoni has thrown many players under a bus in front of the media.

Agree. Also, it often appears that D'Antoni is more comfortable ciriticizing players to the media then to their face.

I really don't like MDA but I'm disappointed to see that magic, someone I always thought to be a fairly nice guy, would say something like this on something so public as twitter. Makes me question his character.

Geeez ... this has nothing to do with MDA, it could be anyone.

The guy does not have to be a classless azzhole

I think he thought the guy was totally wrong for the team and reacted like a fan. My guess is he felt the team wouldn't experience success while Mike D. was there. I don't think it was meant as a dig at dantoni as much as it was relief of moving on from a bad situation that wasn't going to be fixed the next season if things stayed the same.

He's not a fan!

You and I can say that on twitter. HE CAN't.

I really can't believe that you are defending this.

Because it's completely unprofessional and rude maybe...

But it's real, it's not polite, but it's not phoney. There's nothing wrong with thinking someone's bad at their job and wanting someone better to take over.

So if Ewing posted "Good riddance Woody, today is the happiest day of my life", you would think that this is ok because its honest?

Just listen to yourself rationalizing.

I'm sure there are people at work who don't like me or probably think I'm not good at my job. If I resigned, to be honest I'd probably prefer it if those people said they were glad rather than pretended to be all polite and fake- I hate bull****!

Well he has said it every place else. He is an analyst and his analysis has been that the guy is a bad coach for the lakers. Saying it on twitter doesn't shock or upset me.

I do! It's an important part of my job to be honest and have authentic relationships! If you don't genuinely feel sorry for someone, there's no point in faking it because they'll know you're faking it- then that's more annoying!

"couldn't be happier"?

From the most famous HIV positive man on earth?

And Sterling said his girl can sleep with him, but don't be seen with him at games? WTF?

Couldn't be happier? Your son came out of the closet and pretty much universally is accepted, but you "couldn't be happier" cuz mike resigned?

Couldn't be happier? You got infected with HIV while married and she didn't throw your ass out? Couldn't be happier? You didn't infect her, or your kids? YOu couldn't be happier?

You been threw all that, a gazzilionaire, universally loved and MDA leaves and you finally found your ultimate happiness!

For Magic, nalod couldn't be happier!

Speak for yourself. None of us here are planning to buy an NBA franchise. Magic is, and that's not how a future NBA owner should conduct himself.

I see, which franchise has been put up for sale? Untill he is an owner he's just a fan. Anyway, so you're saying that it's OK to be happy a coach gets fired if you aren't buying a team, but the act of buying a team turns it into classless. Logical fallacy.

Wrong. I mentioned in my first post that it was classless regardless, and that a potential owner shouldnt behave this way.
You brought up the fan angle. I responded that he was more than just a fan but a possible owner. It was in bad form either way.

Whether someone is a possible owner or isn't doesn't play into how classy what he said is or isn't. That established, nearly everyone has stated derogatory opinions of coaches here and across all fandom in all sports. Maybe you are more noble than everyone else but if everyone bashes coaches, the term classy vs unclassy is meaningless.

very poor taste from magic johnson. magic was an awful coach in his short stint, it aint an easy job, especially in LA where you have alot of former greats who like to critique everything, even when they couldn't hack it at the job they are critiquing.

I just mentioned twice in the last post how it was classless regardless of whether or not he is a potential owner. Magic is not just a fan, a potential owner, but an NBA legend, a former Laker, and for him to express himself in that manner about another member of the league was in uncharacteristically poor taste. How many tweets have you seen like this from an NBA legend about a coach? If it was considered acceptable behavior we would see it much more often.

Stating something repeatedly doesn't make it true. If it was really deemed classless than more people than well...yourself would refrain from coach bashing. Former NBA legends have bashed many people..whether they were coaches or not doesn't make it classy or not. In fact whether they were legends or just played on the JV team shouldn't matter on whether its classy or not. I don't know if 'legends' have or not..if they do its not really front page news.
