Mozgov did the same thing when he was here. He would show us flashes of something really good and then we would not see it again for a while.

I have no idea what he can do consistently but it appears that without consistent playing time we will not know.

Offensively, he reminds me a lot of Rik Smits (which also make me feel that he will suffer from plantar fasciitis and/or other foot problems)

He's scoring, rebounding, and shot-blocking at a much better rate now than with us. Did you see the video? That's not the same player we traded away.

Of course its not the same player. We were looking at the potential of this raw 9 foot gift that came out of nowhere.

A guy like him does not develop overnight.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

Mozgov 23 points and 29 rebounds. 3 blocks and 3 assists.

Can things get worse and more embarrassing for the Knicks?

not sure why thats embarrassing for the knicks, unless he did it against us- we excel in allowing scrubs to become elite for one night!

He did however take months to recover from this:

Does that make you feel better? Step on this guy because you are upset?

Why do fans feel the need to do that?

Is it possible to be honest instead of emotionally irrational?

Nothing wrong with emotions- I watch basketball for emotional, 'irrational' reasons- logically it makes no sense to root for a team as their achievements have nothing to do with me and rationally have no impact on my life. Man, all these advanced stats are taking the passion out of the game.

I'm honestly not bothered about Mosgov- I liked him when he was here, he went into a slump after that dunk and he has done nothing since. He had a big game. He had some more big games this season, but doesn't get consistent big minutes- it makes me suspicious. Every ex-Knick player is going to have big games over the course of years (except Landry Fields)- I don't get what the significance is.

Why not post every time Zach Randolph has a big game, or Jamal Crawford?

Because I have an attachment to this guy since he was ours and we could have held onto him and still have gotten the trade done.

I need emotional separation from an abusive owner who hurt me deeply by giving away some of my toys for free.

Does whining about one great meaningless game make you feel all better about that?

Try posting in the Lin threads. That's therapeutic as well, I hear.

He's accomplished nothing? OK then what has Melo accomplished (other than high PPG and lots of popularity)?

Bonn, get me those advanced stats comparing Mozgov and Melo. Or Lin and Melo. Or Fields and Melo. Or the Mayor versus Melo. Or whatever ex-Knick and Melo. Please. In what way are you possibly going to spin this? Cost per seat/hot dog prices/salary versus points per salary dollar?

He has been there for four years. Glad to see that he is doing better. Last year he only got off the bench for 41 games and he averaged under 9 minutes a game. Maybe he is going to break out but he resigned with the Nuggets. He isn't on the deal that he was on with the Knicks.

I don't see the Rik Smits comparison on offense. Smits was a monster.

Yea other than both being very tall awkward looking white guys their games were nothing alike. Rik could shoot like a guard

I was basing off what I saw last night - his touch, and all the moves he pulled out. If you saw the game or at least watched the highlights, maybe you would have seen what I meant.

And yes. They were/are both big awkward looking white european men.

OF COURSE HIS OFFENSIVE GAME IS NOTHING LIKE SMITS NOW.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

My god did you get defensive over that
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

He did however take months to recover from this:

i was at this game 12th row. let me tell you, every time the nuggets needed a rebound, mozzy was there. i remember looking up stats in the 2nd quarter and mozzy already had 13 rebounds by then!!

i mean bump chandler. this guy doesn't suffer from flu for 2 months of the season!

what an eff up by dolan for forcing donnie walsh's hand to include mozzie!

understand that GSW have a legit center in Bogut who is good at rebounding. sure they missed david lee, but jermaine o'neal of all people played well for them. kfaried didn't do much but mozzy moz looked like effin kevin love out there.

Faried for some reason gets no credit. 18 points and 17 rebounds IS NOT MUCH?

How about against Utah, 24 points and 21 rebounds? Is that "much"?

Put this guy on my team PLEASE!

so here is what phil is thinking ....

wow mozgov with the huge left-handed facial.

the knicks could have used him as part of a patient rebuild plan that walsh tried to establish. anyone gonna watch the knicks game tonight?

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

I didnt want Moz traded either but having a big game years removed from the trade is like coming up with a great comeback long after someone disses you.

+1
I don't see how long people will continue to drag this trade BS out. MeloHate is a degenerative long-term illness, apparently. Like fishmike mentioned in another thread, when Melo's gone, we can all go back to enjoying 20 win seasons and building cap space for the future!

Foam fingers at the lottery for everyone!

But many people also say that it takes a few years to see if a trade worked out (not saying you specifically but many people say that).

The difference here is that we are talking about one game. If Moz was doing this night in and night out I would feel differently about the impact of including Moz in the deal, which has been negligible IMO.
