would be funny for a sabermetrician like Morey to take on Melo. What would that mean to the movement?

This is a good thing- if the rockets and bulls are interested, they might drive up the price of a trade. It gives us options.

I agree.

I want him here at 15-18 million or traded for some nice assets / picks.

Don't think he would like playing with Harden or Howard. They are both tough to play with.

Chicago is the perfect fit for him/them. Playing with Noah has to make anyone less selfish.

Well he'd be getting a player with better metrics this year than the ones he's giving up.

Not really, any trade would be a sign-and-trade so Melo would already have to agree to wherever he's going. Not much bidding when there's only one team involved.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

I think both those teams would be appealing to him- I think he'd do right by us and help us get something back for him.

The Bulls can eat a dick with that package. I'd take back Boozer's contract BUT would demand that we also receive Butler, the rights to Mirotic and both their first rounds in 2014. It's really a pittance for what Melo is as a player and what he'd mean to their franchise.

If this is the Bulls package, I'd prefer it to Houston's best offer because it offers comparable talent at a cheaper price.

The best thing for Melo and the Knicks is for him to have his contract frontloaded. No one wants to be paying $30 million/year to a 35 year old. More importantly, we'd still be able to add one max free agent in 2015 and facilitate the prospects of adding more down the road (e.g. Kyrie in 2016) because of Melo's ever-decreasing contract.

Can't do that in the NBA like you can in the nfl

Well I'm looking at the #s on basketball reference and some other sites. Melo doesn't have superstar metrics but he's above those three players. Giving up three good players for one better one is a bad deal though. I'd be surprised if Morey did this but it wouldn't be earth-shattering from a metrics perspective.

Yeah you can. Kirk Hinrich's last contract was front loaded. Currently, Nick Collision, Kyle Korver, Andre Miller and Tyreke Evans are on frontloaded deals.

If melo wants to go to the Rockets it will be for a trade where we rip them off. Whenever we want to get a big 3 people rip us off. Now it is time to return the favor. The trade will start with Lin, Asik and Parsons. We will also be looking for some good 1st and 2nd round picks. At the very minimum I want the Knicks to be at an asset level that is comparable to before we gave up the house for Melo. This might be unrealistic, but it is time to start using our leverage instead of having leverage only being used against us.

Amen Clean! That's why there is optimism with the Phil signing. No way Dolan or anyone of his cronies can possibly get in Phil frickin Jackson's way right? Right?

Why? Asik and Lin are in the last year of their contract. So basically you get a cap friendly contract in Parsons and Greg Smith. You still get cap space for 2015.
