I just wished Murry had that deal. I am not as big on Murry as others but still he was young and just wanted a crack in the league so he was probably willing to sign a deal like that.

I hope there's a team option on the third year. Otherwise, we could still lose him. At least we should have cap space when he becomes an FA. It's really important that we do have a 2nd year.

Papabear Says

Look if Melo signs for 30 million that means he really dosent want a ring. You heard Melo say that what is important to him is a ring.

I have been following this kid while he was in Golden States Warriors. In fact I do not understand why he was not given a chance to play for such a long period of time. Maybe the injury really hurt him. That is also my concern. Will a injury hinder his future, again?

This draft is full of PGs that will be better than Murry end of late round 1 into round 2. And like Finestring pointed out a few times--we could probably do better right now with Pierre Jackson

Yeah, but it should be automatic that there are team options on years 2 and 3 with these deals

Youre right Bonn---Houston is great at this--theyve locked up Chandler Parsons to a three year deal. If a player pans out in anyway--you just made millions of dollars for your team. If we locked Lin and Copeland into 3 year minimum deals with a team option in year 3 theyd be here. While the two year deal is good better than 1--if Tyler plays ANYWHERE near a solid level--its going to cost us a fortune in the year we have cap space.

And if you give an unproven entitiy a long term deal your screwed.

Lots of teams could have grabbed him but lets not kid ourselves, he is a work in progress and already we are gripped in fear over losing him as if he is a bonafide everyday player?

He is getting a chance to prove himself and if he is confident and his people see his potential they don't want him locked up on a stupid deal.

After two years he has leverage but if he is that good, another year gives us his bird rights and everybody wins. Knicks take care of their players. Not every player will be a lin situation.

We claimed Lin off waivers. I think that means we picked up the contract he was currently on and we couldn't have locked him up into any other deal at the time.

Three years at well below the league average isn't getting screwed - especially if the 2nd and 3rd year are team options

For the Knicks to become elite they will need a couple things to happen. Obviously resign Melo. Upgrade PG (Lowry?). Hopefully get something from Amare, but the Knicks will really need a guy to step out of nowhere and be a good player. Starks and Mason were CBA cast offs the Knicks got for nothing and were huge pieces in deep playoff runs where they contributed.

I thought Lin would be a player like that but the Knicks phucked it up. Maybe Tyler becomes one. Its pretty common around the league. Lots of guys are overlooked for a variety of reasons and or blossom late. Here's praying Tyler is one AND we dont screw it up like Lin
