We won 54 because the 3 headed PG monster did an ok job. It was a 1 year thing. Kidd has moved on. Pablo got older. Felton showed his true blubber.

Curse of the Dragon. Unless we get lucky and get another very good PG then we are going to see this kind of play for years to come. We don't even have our own ****ing pick this year which is going to be in the lottery. Yeah, I know stating the obvious.

Instead of Lin we get the Knucklehead brothers. Yippee.

better then an OK job. Kidd's play early in the season was vintage Kidd. He set the tone and set a style of play. we have not had that this year. At all, and everyone on this roster looks worse because of it.

I brought up Linsanity because Tyson Chandler looked good offensively. Jared Jeffries was getting buckets and looked like a real NBA player. Good guard play elevated the whole team. Bad guard play can bring down a whole team. We are seeing it now and we have need it before on this same team very recently pre-linsanity.

I undertsand that MSG didnt want to overpay for Lowry, but they were so worried about overpaying that they didnt consider their team needs.

Kidd went down and we were still playing great basketball...Second half of the year, Kidd imploded and we went on to win 13 in a row...Common denominator???, Felton!!..Jason Kidd said Felton was the engine...MVP against Boston in the playoffs...When Felton wasn't hurt, we played good basketball, we won...Felton has been hurt since preseason this year..We suck without him at 100% getting in the lane, period...

Kidd as savior is the common chant of Melohaters everywhere. Kidd, Rasheed, geez, I even read about Camby leading us through the playoffs without even playing.

Lin...in...Houston...can't...compete...with...Patrick...Beverly...

Here's what I don't get whenever people defend letting Lin walk. Even if you take the view that Lin was at BEST a serviceable backup PG (his numbers certainly bear that out), we got him without giving up any assets, won his bird rights via an arbitration hearing THEN LET HIM WALK FOR NOTHING when our not even close biggest need is serviceable guards! How ax anyone seriously defend the Knicks decision making here? And screw the cap, this is the Dolan Knicks who spent billions marching out garbage teams for a decade.

Morey and or Lin's agent negotiated a deal that was too much for the Knicks to match. 65 million was one of the figures being thrown around as to what year three of that deal would cost the Knicks.

This is the same franchise that paid Larry Brown $40 million or whatever for 1 year of coaching. Jerome James 30 mil to eat instead of ball. Allan Houston $100 mil when no other team was offering more than what? 60-70 million? What did Shandan Anderson and Howard Eisley get combined again? How about Clarence Witherspoon getting the full MLE for 4 years. Eddy Curry getting max'ed. And more recently Amare getting $100 million uninsured when his own team wouldn't go near that amount. I could go on and on here.

The point is that the Knicks all of a sudden caring about money doesn't jive. This fiscal responsibility seems to _only_ be a factor in Lin's situation.

the lin phenomenon was larger than nba life-- it became a global event. that means that it made people with fragile egos on the knicks look on with envy and resentment at the young man.

his career as a knick was doomed by the usual suspects who live by hypocrisy and double standards and the ability to "compartmentalize." the phrase "ridiculous contract" comes to mind, as do a certain coach's lukewarm, damning with faint praise postgame comments, and of course a certain owner's rumored inability to countenance retaining the services of a player who would not be under his control and influence.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

I'm not going to argue that Dolan is stupid

Seriously though, wouldn't Lin's contract run through 2014, the same year basically all the other big contracts that are hamstringing our flexibility also expire?

Do folks remember how utterly terrible the team looked with a healthy Melo/Amare/Chandler when Toney Douglas was running point and folks were waiting for Baron Davis to come back?

Im a bit suprised we didnt just get Lowry and work on an extension etc.. This team so desperately needs what he brings. This team is not as bad as its record.

We dont have a 55% post player (Ewing) that allows our PGs to walk the ball up the court and drop it into the paint. We need a floor general to get guys involved. What we have are some 'scorers' chucking the ball at the rim everything they can actually see it.

No one has forgotten. Stevie Wonder can see that we have no options at PG. I am to the point where I can't even buy into a healthy Felton. I think this season is already lost. I just hope we can address this gap next season. Also, I think this JR situation is quickly becoming a powder keg. The guys hasn't been the same since the elbow game, and I don't think he is the least bit remorseful about the situation too. At this point, I am not sure how long it will take this guy to come back to form. I hope he does and soon.

Basically Dolan is stupid if he matches and stupid if he doesn't.

far stupider not to match. only a ****head like dolan could **** up this walsh-generated karmic gift and godsend.

Grunwald was the gm when the Rockets waived Lin and the Knicks claimed him.

i remember reading that the knicks were keeping tabs on lin when walsh was there.

I don't remember anything like that. He was waived twice before he was signed with the knicks. I also can't find anything to indicate that Walsh was waiting for Lin to be waived so that the knicks could sign him.

Mike Dantoni said he was on their radar. It was right at the start of Linsanity. Not going to bother to find it because who cares

Grunswald was the assistant gm so why couldn't he have kept tabs on Lin while Walsh was the GM

Oh I see. No it was Grunwald who kept tabs on Lin. Didn't realize we were talking about Walsh. Not sure about him but it's possible since Walsh was Knicks GM when Lin was drafted

I think I saw somewhere that Walsh also mentioned that Knicks were tracking Lin during his Knick tenure.

Have folks realized that the Knicks are 9-21 for the second-worst record in the NBA? The point of thinking about Lin is imagining how good the Knicks might have been both last season and this season.

They would have been better even if Melo did not like having to share the ball.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Apparently folks never tire of would be savior scenarios with no basis in reality. Were you pining away for Lin when he couldn't keep Toney. D on the bench, or are you just splooging at another Melohate opportunity?

The Knicks were going to be better last season with Lin?
So by simple math, you're saying Lin + Melo is better than Lin + Harden?
